hi kram!!
I did cpl theory about a year ago and did pretty well.... I did 2 exams at a time and took between a month and six weeks to study for the two. The order I did mine in was Air law and AGK, then human factors and Aerodynamics, then NAV and Met. Then the hardest Performance on its own.
Good tip i was given.... head to CASA's website and print out the syllabus for each exam. If you know each aspect of the syllabus you'll be set and have a better foundation for ATPL theory!!
Good LUck

PBC,
Are you talking about the Day VFR syllabus?
http://www.casa.gov.au/avreg/fcl_lic/vfrday.htm
Can you point me to the syllabus for the exams?
Thanks

The order doesn't matter. The only proviso i put on the order i did them in was to do CLWA last. That was because you had 3 years to complete the exams but from the date you passed air law you were only given 6 months to finish them all.
I had a quick read of the website and it looks like that rule might not exist anymore. You might just want to make sure.
Good luck. If you're strong on your PPL theory you have a good grounding for CPL passes.
Rob.

Kram,
Your right it is the day VFR syllabus, the website has changed a bit since I was there last but I had a look...
Go to Aviation Industry Info (Left hand side options on homepage)
Then Pilot exams and licenses (8th on the list)
Then Day VFR Standards and syllabus
Then on the far right of screen go to Day VFR syllabus SECTION 3 (under it it has PDF 215KB)
What I was talking about is in block 2 (page 22 of 57) It lists each exam and sets out what you should know for each. But there were some other topics there like Radio Operation.... not sure what that is for, but may be useful to know anyway???
