Cool

Where in Milne Bay are you trying to get to? It's a big province......

Tufi is in Oro Province, not Milne Bay Province. Pixie don't go to Tufi - even the RAAF pranged a DHC4 Caribou there.

Air Niugini Schedule

It looks like POM/GUR (Gurney) DHC8 operates Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday (twice) and Sunday.

I suspect Port Moresby - Tufi - Alotau would be charter only.

OzExpat could give you the best run down on POM/MBP services.

I can see it now...tracer flying, rock music screaming...old Bankstown Safari lying down returning fire heroically..then (after taking a whole lubricated Russian T-52 fair up the date[dastardly stone age warriors, so full of tricks] and a body so riddled with holes it resembles Michael Jackson's defence strategy!), he lays down and manages to scribble down a few Kipling like phrases (you'll be a man my son...yadda,yadda,yadda) to be passed on to the next intrepid warrior that passes by in that neck of the woods.
Anybody care to add to it?!!....Could be a good yarn. Maybe the story could start off with,
People in the bizaar soon learn't not to get in the way of the steeleyed young CPL holder,....somebody care to run with it??

See Safari.......you CAN be the stuff of legends!!

I haven't had any time to suss things out ratso but if you take a note of this schedule from Port Moresby to Tufi, I'm sure your local travel agent can give you an idea of prices and availability. Likewise for this schedule from Tufi to Gurney.

You could then work out a return from Gurney to POM using Air Niugini's direct Dash-8 flight.

Are ya monitoring this thread SS... this is the sort of thing that you should be contemplating.

Not sure of the links above, but from when I passed thru I do remember a Kingair in there from that PNG mob...purple and green insignia on the tail.

Memory hazy.

Also the old barges still visible half sunk on the southern side of the fjord/bay a few miles from the end.

Also try Hinterland aviation in Cairns. They ran charters to Alotau then the pax would get on the (recreational) fishing boats from there. You might be able to pay your share of the flight after talking to the charter operator.
