That would be useful…if there were any Esso garages near here. I can’t think of any in this area.

I think you will find it works in some other fuel stations, BP IIRC.

I see from the Electoral Commission web site that the veterans card is not listed as one of the government issued photo IDs acceptable for proof of identity when voting.
I can beat that! Nearing retirement I had applied for a Civil Service job in an RAF Command HQ where I was then working, was shortlisted and duly interviewed by a serving 2-star.

His (civilian) outer office was checking my identity - and I discovered that my 1250/Mod90 was NOT acceptable ID!!!

Fortunately I was about to go on hols so had my passport in my bag .......

[Didn't get the job ...... maybe cos I told the AVM what I thought of the above]

I see the Veteran's Card has still not been added to the list of acceptable IDs for the election, despite affirmative noises being made after the local elections.

Found a use for my Veterans Card. We were in a local market town pub to watch an England match when we ( my wife and I) were ‘invaded’ by circa 25 young squaddies, Light Dragoons , I think. They were boisterous but in light spirits until the Zambucca shots started the rounds and the inevitable two best mates started seriously winding each other up. They were sat at our table though it felt as if all 25 were sat at our table
There was a bit of showing off, roughty toughty army boys stuff. I slid over my Veterans Card to one of the mouthy ones, muttered 36 years and the atmosphere improved!

Oh no, I guess I'll just use my driving license or passport like most normal people....
