It would be completely wrong for politicians and business owners to submit to such control. They must obey the law of the land, but not some other mysterious authority. That is what happens in totalitarian states. Sure, it means you get good and bad, but the bad have a way of being weeded out sooner or later. That's OK with me.
Everyone else is forbidden to lie on a job application, but not politicians - for them it seems almost mandatory.

If anyone is reading this and feels strongly about this cheating charlatan keeping his pension, throw your weight behind the petition

no one in politics ever reads a petition these days - in fact they never read them in the old days - there's a whole "yes Minister/Prime Minister" on it
And another one!!!

Unfortunately for her she couldn't make up her mind if she was a Doctor or a Nurse, or if she held the rank of Colour Sergeant or Major in 'The Royal British Army' (sic)!!! She alleged that 'she had served in the Army as a medic, with service “in a field hospital 500 metres (0.3 miles) from the front line” in Afghanistan, as well as in Iraq, Syria, Kosovo, Haiti, Bosnia, Malawi, and Zambia.'
However, the report states that 'the court was informed that checks of Ministry of Defence records found no evidence of her serving in the Army or the Reserves. It was revealed that she was an adult volunteer with the Army Cadets but had never seen active service.'
In this day and age, how on earth do people believe that they can get away with cr*p like this???

Whatever drove Adderley to do what he did is absolutely beyond me.
In no way wishing or trying to defend him, I bumped into a Police reassurance patrol while walking the dog in the park in Northampton and they were clearly conflicted when I discussed him and his departure. "He had to go" and "what he did was odd and wrong" were balanced by an obvious and genuine respect they obviously still had for him. Why? Because they felt he led and looked after them well, fought for their resources and supported them to get the training and equipment they needed. As a Northamptonshire tax payer and as a proud veteran I am glad that the tribunal sacked him and only wish it could have happened sooner... I just hope now he uses the positive aspects of his character to make a difference to those in society that would benefit from his help and support, without ever feeling the need to tell us about it.

Gawd, I remember the incredible depth of detail they went onto when I was vetted for a TS post in the DIS ... and a subsequent 'refresher' for GW1.

"Mildly" Eccentric Stardriver
The court was told that £860 was collected for the ward in September 2019 by a mother of a premature baby who ran a half-marathon.
Seems the Beeb needs to re-stock its comma cupboard, or that is one heck of a baby. On a more serious note, well done the mother.
