The waterborne version of the Jaguar far exceeded the Land variant for acceleration.

The pilot’s new nickname would follow him for life. He could only thank the stars that he had the foresight to be Polish.

When it was decided that only OOD qualified pilots could fly the airplane, the project was quietly dropped due to a lack of applicants.

The surface looks kind of puckered.

Let’s take a dart and smooth it out.

To start with, a sombre note, Saturday will be the 69th annniversary of the accident in which test plot Charles E Richbourg was killed when flying the F2Y Sea Dart.

Many fine answers, however,

Honourable mention to:
Saab Dastard: Well gentlemen, because of the high tail and top-mounted intakes, we have to have a downward firing ejection system, so we need a volunteer to eject during a take-off. Flt/Lt Hoskins about to test the downward firing ejection system...

Joint Runners up:
Wensleydale: Aberdeen Airport buys a new Mu Meter,
Sealo0: I know I said “ Take me to the jet wash” I’m not sure this is what I meant!
Treaders: Another hour out there Hoskins and you'll have earned your Day Skipper rating...

But the last shall be first for the subtle reference.
Chu Chu: The surface looks kind of puckered. Let’s take a dart and smooth it out.

The CST will be delivered shortly.

PS It did fly.

Thank you very much, SLXOwft! Lots of great captions on that one, and I'm surprised and honored to take the trophy.

From what I can see, this design was even less successful. But let's see what folks can do with it:

The immediate flaw discovered was that the propelling power for the Compressor had all the power of a push bike!
