RAeS Q&A Session with ACM Sir Richard Knighton
The loss of the previous '2000TT' credits which were available from Spring 2001 until 7 Apr 2012 was not the CAA's fault - it was entirely down to 22Gp (as it was) for failing to provide a suitable credit report. The CAA told me that they'd have been entirely happy to have continued with the existing scheme, had the RAF maintained the original credit report.
Before Part-FCL came into effetc, EASA told me at Gatwick that there was no reason why the existing military accreditation scheme shouldn't continue.
Such was the outrage at the time that an IBN was circulated stating that comments on social media weren't helping.

I knew 22 Gp had dropped the ball entirely but I didn't know the CAA and EASA were so on-side.
Another failure to look after the troops by the AOC at the time who probably got promoted for it.

When one considers within the VSO there is a qualified solicitor as the Director Legal Services and on the non-Exec Board is an actual Chief HR Officer it makes one wonder how collaborative the recruitment policy making/sign-off process actually is or at the very least is no-one brave enough to shout out "put the chocks back in - you may want to rethink that because....."
A typical case of poor support for their people was when we were negotiating military credit for the Part-FCL aerobatic rating, which requires 5 hr of aerobatic flight time. The RAF claimed that their basic flying training course didn't include such time - until I advised them to check the actual AR syllabus requirements, which includes various stalling and spinning exercises, amongst other things. Fortunately they then realised their mistake and the credit was duly achieved.
