The benefit is to:
1. Extend the range of precision strike, which is able to add to the still limited long range fire that Ukraine has,
2. Keep the ru airforce further back from the border, to permit improved interception of launched munitions.
3. Close air support from behind the lines is still viable, it is being done to some effect at present with Mi-8's which are hardly the first choice for a CAS helicopter capability.
4. It sends a message to the Crimlin.

The Ukrainians are already using their less than optimal equipment to provide air support for their defenders on the ground. In spite of their gear being less effective, they are not afraid to go into contested airspace as it is assisting their ground troops. About what the USMC would do with air assets to support troops in contact. Their current tactics are not resulting in severe losses of their own air assets at the moment, so would it not be reasonable to allow the same people who are already accepting risk and trying to do the job to actually take the same risk, with better gear and achieve a bit more?

The West has concerns, the Ukrainians have courage and need.

The Ukrainians have not been taking unreasoned risks, they are being effective with what they have at hand. Having more, and more effective platforms doesn't equate to suddenly taking greater risks, it should act to increase effectiveness, and that reduces total risks from lowered exposure. Their guys are prepared to go and do the task, more effective platforms will improve the outcome. That is what they have been asking for, they are not afraid of the risk, we seem to be.

It's "Groundhog Day", and the fact that he is out of hibernation predicts a good spring for Ukraine.

The United Kingdom will transfer hundreds of air defence missiles and new long-range attack drones to Ukraine with a range of more than 200 km, Reuters reports with reference to sources within the British government.

I really want people to pay attention to the latest drone here from Aerovironment being highlighted by @EuromaidanPress for delivery to Ukraine.

The AeroVironment’s JUMP 20 is a compound helicopter & sailplane design. This is the cutting edge of small surveillance drones……

At 80 knots air speed, a Jump 20 can cover 2050 km straight line distance in 14 hours with time to spare for a VTOL take off and landing.

Just the thing to target Russian military infrastructure in Crimea for Storm Shadow strikes.😉

Russia walking back on red lines over strikes on Crimea…

This won’t have been a personal point of view but one handed down from government sources…

You can now breathe easy. Russia won't respond if Ukraine completely destroys the Crimean bridge or blows stuff up within Russia.

Margarita Simonyan explained that those targets don't constitute the red lines that shouldn't be crossed….

They have saved a Banksy as the building was beyond repair, that's one impressive lifting structure and I assume a permanent frame to display it in another public space.

Some posts say this is old footage, but I do not know, it purports to be a strike near a Russian Airfield in Crimea

Another Storm Shadow hit being reported in Luhansk on the former Ukraine's National Guards military unit base, though for the weapon supposedly used the building appears relatively intact.

Hmmm. Laos = Russia.

So you don’t get thrown jail for slagging off the armed forces…

Fighterbomber says Russian MoD is still silent about the 5 planes and helis taken down on Saturday; suggests it could easily be the Friend and Foe system malfunction, since few Ukrainian systems, if any, could take down 5 vehicles in 2 minutes. Says the situation is bad in any case as no one will be taking responsibility, and no one will be punished because there is "no war".
