Ukraine War Thread Part 2
Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
Never know when it might come in useful….
Residents of the Kyiv region illegally acquired and stored Russian anti-aircraft missile system and ammunition.
At first, the police discovered and seized the TOR air defense system (Unfortunately, the photo has not been published), later police managed to establish the location of the ammunition.
According to preliminary data, the weapon was left by Russian troops during hostilities in the territory of Chernihiv region.

Perhaps this is indicative of the usefulness/survivability (or not) of air support in a battlespace saturated with highly effective anti air weapons which might, at least in part, explain the US reluctance to release F16s - lest their mythical and magical powers are all too publicly exposed - as I suspect the US military possibly recognises.

At least the battlespace seems to be dangerous to Russian pilots. News are in that yet another red on red incident occured, this time Russian S300 took down a SU-35

I'm also intrigued about the true origins of the large numbers of "industrial fires" we've been seeing posted here for many months. Always the inpression/implication given or assumed is that somehow Ukraine is involved which just might be the case in some of them, but unless UKR has a Ruzzia-wide network of sympathysers vastly larger, more widespread and better supplied with weaponry (how?) than anyone could imagine there's no way all or even many/most of these events are related to the war. Surely a great proportion are just routine industrial accidents in a country with an appalling record for industrial accidents?
Even in cases of apparrent short-range drone attacks on military airfields the silence from Ruzzia regarding the heroic bravery and expertise of the domestic security forces in catching these terrorists is deafening. In fact I've not read a single report of anyone being causght at this. Given the number of these events is that even remotely feasible - considering Ruzzia's propaganda machine's febrile eagerness to illustrate Ukranian "terrorism"?
I know the reportage available to us is enormously skewed towards Ukranian successes and hiding Ruzzian ones but the complete absence of info/propaganda re any sort of success agaisnt embedded UKR partizans seems odd to me, and completely out of character of their propaganda machine.

Lieutenant Colonel Irek Magasumov, Hero of Russia, who was personally decorated by Putin in early August, has been detained in Luhansk, Ukraine, on suspicion of murdering an 18-year-old girl in a bar, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication.

Is there a lousy track record of safety in Russia. Russia is the poster child of negligence, from care of its own population, environment, and even up to non trivial matters such as "nukular" safety. The system that exists promotes falsification of compliance, shortcuts and generally is the thing of nightmares of anyone involved in system safety.
Is there a 5th column? Certainly. There are groups attacking Russia that are Russians (and Belarusian's). The derailments in Belarus, all angry locals. The short range drone attacks on airfield... long arms, or local action.
Is the FSB active in stopping this? Maybe, and maybe they are already moving against Vlad the Vindictive.
Do managers have an opportunity to erase evidence of corruption? Sure, stocktake are old hat.
All of these things can be true to some extent in parallel, they are not mutually exclusive, but they suggest that Vlad has a bit of a problem with how he does business. Would think that Mr Prigozhin would second that position.

UAC reports that it handed over a batch of new-build Su-35S multirole fighters to the Russian MoD. This is the third batch of Su-35Ss delivered in 2023. The number of aircraft is not specified; however, the photos & video released by UAC appear to show just two.
Delivery of the first & second batches of Su-35Ss in 2023 took place in June & July, repsectively. They, too, appear to have comprised just 2 aircraft each. Thus, a total of 6 Su-35Ss have seemingly been handed over to the Russian MoD this year so far.

This says a lot about Russias ability to control any of the Black Sea, moving vessels by road.
