Good to see the British press putting blunt questions over for once.

Surovikhin back in harness, Kadyrov deeply ill

https://www.focus.de/politik/ausland..._57275780.html

According to this German magazine, Surovikhin is part of a Russian Defence Ministry delegation in Algeria for negotiations. Kadyrov is supposedly in a critical condition. He was flown to Moscow, but they couldn't help and he flew back to Chechnya: it is expected that he will seek treatment overseas, probably in the U.A.E.

Bad news that Surovikhin is back as he was reportedly an efficient military commander, but likely now to be employed outside of Ukrainiasn affairs. Kadyrov ....well at least the goats will feel safer. His deputy prime-minister - Elchan Suleimanow,- was a friend and also his personal doctor, but has not been seen for some time. The delightful Kadyrov is rumoured to have had him buried alive because he suspected him of poisoning him (Kadyrov ) under the guise of treatment.

Kadyrov appears to be getting close to departure from this world, shame it wasn’t slowly dying in a sh*t filled ditch in pain as he bleeds out from a wound.. Not really a kind way to think off someone’s death, but after what they have done, to die drugged and in the care of medical services, almost feels like the people of Ukraine are being robbed of some justice.

Hardly “for once“

Guess you were tuned in elsewhere when Sarah Rainsford (BBC) got kicked out of Russia, her home, for upsetting the powers that be; or when John Sudworth (BBC) escaped China, his home, in short order with his family fearing imminent arrest for “unfriendly journalism“.

Then there would be the looong list of examples of the BBC being a fly in plenty of nasty oinkment.

Still, I agree it is good to see the smart twit Musk being given grief. What an ignorant toad he is.

Romania considers joining French-led Mistral procurement program

LONDON – Romania is considering joining France, Belgium, Estonia, Cyprus and Hungary in the Mistral procurement program, to bolster its air defenses and border security against possible Russian aggression.

Over the last week, the security situation in Romania has become more turbulent than normal, with the finding of drone debris near the country’s border with Ukraine. The discovery comes amid Russian attacks on Ukraine that have taken place close to this area.

Bucharest has been looking to increase its air defense capabilities for some time now, in particular through previous and ongoing tenders to purchase electronic warfare and counter-drone systems.

In recent weeks, the country has turned its attention to Mistral, through which it may obtain the Mistral 3 missile produced by MBDA, a France-based defense firm owned by BAE Systems, Airbus and Leonardo. a Romanian Ministry of Defense source told Defense News.

“MBDA is aware of Romania’s interest in joining this procurement process and is engaged in ongoing discussions with them,” Julien Watelet, a company spokesperson told Defense News on Sept. 14.

The joint acquisition for the Mistral 3 was launched with the letter of intent signed on June 19 during the Paris Air Show by France, Belgium, Estonia, Cyprus and Hungary. Productio of the Mistral will double to about 40 units a month next year.

Watelet added that the program could benefit from the support of the EU and allow scale economies to be achieved, “as to incentivise member states to procure defense products jointly while reinforcing the European Defense Technological and Industrial Base competitiveness.”

It remains unclear how many systems will be delivered to each country and the cost of these purchases. The French-led project is being overseen by the ministry’s procurement arm Direction Generale de l’Armement on behalf of the partner countries……

Belgium will lend its F-16s to train Ukrainian pilots. Its instructors and staff will also participate in the training. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Belgium, Ludivin Dedonder, reports Le Soir.

According to her, in 2024, the department will send two two-seater F-16B training aircraft to Denmark to improve the skills of Ukrainian pilots, as well as a detachment of approximately fifty servicemen, mainly technical personnel, who will be responsible for the deployment of these aircraft.

In addition, six Ukrainian instructors and four mission planning specialists will undergo training in Belgium.

Update on the previously reported German “winter air defence shield” over Ukraine.

Ukraine War Thread Part 2

Have to wonder if it is just a “temporary transfer” “ who will man them…

⚡️🇩🇪Germany is negotiating with other countries on the temporary transfer of its "IRIS-T" air defense systems to 🇺🇦Ukraine - a member of the German Defense Committee

Source with video of interview:

According to Omid Nouripour (Chairman Green Party / e.g. Deputy member of the Defence Committee), Germany is in talks with other nations (Sweden / Egypt) about temporarily handing over their IRIS-T SLS / SLM systems to Ukraine.

Last November the Biden Admin pledged 250 M1117 Armored Security Vehicles for Ukraine. They were to be refurbished with USAI funds, then donated via the Excess Defense Articles program.

They won't be ready for another 18 months.

This one is. Although the important question for me is does the drone fit in a 90 or is it an accessory for 110s only?

In case of the depicted Landy it wouldn't matter since this is a 110.

Musk won’t be well remembered by the Ukrainians, your point about Starlink notwithstanding. His banal and ill-considered musings don’t penetrate the surface of why this war is being fought and why Ukrainians will fight rather than be subjugated by Russia again. Musk has thought diarrhea. It all comes out quickly and not much of it is very solid.

Some of the hard fighting to re-take what is left of a settlement.

How Andriivka was freed: the fog of Donbass and harsh battles. Unique footage from GoPro. The enemy was firing mortars, and the mines were getting closer and closer. Stormtroopers continued to hunt the enemy in the middle of the battlefield — in a populated area teeming with Russians. Offensive actions of soldiers of the 3rd company of the 1st assault battalion of the brigade.

Finland and the Baltic states introduced such a ban earlier this week.
