No, it wasn't, as it wasn't even in the UK's airspace.

Not quite 30 years ago there was an office opened in Brussels (Russian liaison office) to extend cooperatin between Russia and NATO, and there was some interest in that very eventuality, or something close to it.
Didn't work out, though.

Turkish cluster bombs, first delivered to Ukraine in November 2022, evidently increased Russian casualties from 5k to 20K per month, according to Dan Rice, who persuaded Gen. Zaluzhny to ask for DPICMS from the U.S….

Dan Rice, US artillery officer and advisor to General Zaluzhnyi, was instrumental in the shipment of DPICM to Ukraine.

Now, he has taken to @WarOnTheRocks to argue for M26 MLRS rockets to be sent as well…..

Is there such a thing as NATO airspace. I thought airspace was national or international. There are zones outside National airspace where we like to know who is doing what, but I thought there was a freedom of navigation nonetheless?

Sorry, oversight on my part.

After the Stans, oblasts, and other bits of the "empire" find out that the evil Sith Lord is messing up their rice bowl, then the Greater Rus Umpire is quite likely to picket the sole remaining T34, and Dads Army. The economy will get a lift in Lada sales I guess, and prosthetics, undertakers are booming (bavovna-ing?). But seriously, Moscow has centralised the criminality and plundering of the rest of the Federation, gaining value from their resources and returning.... conscription, and body bags. The St George colours only go so far...

Moscow: Vladisburg
St Pete: Novo Vladisburg
Green, Tan & Blue: Not Russia

The Sith Empire.

If that is hard to see, here it is again:

Satellite views of the previous Kerch bridge damage and the ongoing repairs, anyone any idea about the new construction between both bridges?

Ukraine’s air force said that its forces had destroyed 16 of at least 28 Russia-launched air and sea-based missiles. It was not immediately clear how many missiles were launched at Lviv and Volyn, Reuters reports.

Ukrainian media reported that according to preliminary information, Tuesday’s attack was the largest air assault on the Lviv region since the start of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine in February 2022.

Three people were killed and several hospitalised in Lutsk after a business enterprise was hit, Yuriy Pohulyaiko, governor the Volyn region of which Lutsk is the administrative centre, said on the Telegram messaging app.

There were no casualties in Lviv, according to preliminary information, but more than 100 residential houses were damaged, 500 windows broken and a kindergarten playground was destroyed.

Until July, the Lviv region which is far from the frontlines and which borders Poland to its west, had been spared most Russia’s air attacks. But in July seven people were killed when a missile slammed into a residential building.

Dead Russian mobiks family gets... no, not a Lada but a bicycle. Yes, what a fun to ride around the countryside on a brand new bicycle and remember the deceased sunflower fertiliser.
The mother may be dreaming of two more bicycles soon if the war doesn't end soon.

It's not a legal thing, it's an operational one. As the Russian aircraft pass close to the airspace of successive NATO nations, each monitors them until they pass to the next. The purpose of this monitoring is well known.

I'm pretty sure that the Bear is a Tu-142MR Bear J, with an under fuselage pod for the Fregat trailing wire VLF antenna system.

Yes I know the theory but the fact remains that while these are areas of interest to NATO, they are also international airspace so all countries have the right to freedom of navigation in these areas, so there is no need for faux outrage or alarm. It is just routine, until they cross the imaginary line, then they may be invited to “follow me or else”.

Not forgetting aircraft is military, a bomber, Russia is at war with Ukraine and an aggressor to the UK and the West. It's not exactly the casual passing of friendly traffic.

How is it different from what they have been doing routinely for years?

I would also lay a pound to a pinch of the proverbial that it was fitted for Int, not bombing.

Are you sure that the pilots haven't signed up to the very successful chem-trail programme as a lucrative side-line ? After all, those pilots don't have any opportunities to liberate toilets and washing-machines .

There is no 'faux outrage', it happens and gets reported in the press, as it has been for decades. Since these are the same type of aircraft that are daily launching missiles at Ukraine, it is only natural that there is increased public interest when they come our way. Are you suggesting it should be covered up?
