Well said…….. but please we should be venting our anger in a different direction.
It is called pathetic. I served in HM forces for 30 years so please do not insult my intelligence with such trite comments. As I have mentioned before, my wife is Russian so I know a thing or two about how they think.
When Gordon Brown was Prime Minister he refused to give a penny in budget increase to the Armed Forces. When questioned in Parliament about it, he said 'I have nothing but respect for our Armed Forces'. The next day, a letter was published in the Daily Telegraph from an astute lady who simply said 'Precisely'. This is where e are now - paper threats and pretty lights,
It is an insult to the intelligence of Ukranians, many of whom are going to die soon, to say that a few light bulbs are meaningful in any way. The West has been shown for the paper tiger that it is and I am absolutely disgusted. We are watching innocent people being slaughtered on our doorstep and we could stop it, but we won't, because they did not join our club, and Russian money is too important to our governments (Hence the refusal to deny them SWIFT).
History will judge us as the very worst of humanity - insulated, cowardly and self-serving. We could stop this slaughter of innocents, but we are not. That is a simple fact.
We deserve the judgement and condemnation that history will attach to us - we watched naked aggression being visited on innocent people, whilst being more powerful than the aggressor, and looked the other way. We cited rules and articles as people died. We moved football matches and cancelled a car race as cities burned.
We deserve the contempt of the world to follow the one we have so comprehensively abandoned.

With all his talk of nuclear action, does the madman actually have the button? My guess is that he doesn't, and there are a lot of more sober minds that do. We can but hope that when he says "fire", the unit commanders, knowing the end result, would say "no"
Agreed. The man who's first thought on being "forced" into a war is to rescue his $70M yacht is probably not the man to end it all in a blaze of glory...
Incidentally, for those of us feeling powerless to help, whilst a sovereign European nation is being forced to fight, at huge cost, for its right to exist, the National bank of Ukraine has set up a dedicated account that is being used to support the Ukrainian military. It's little enough, but I'm sure most of us can afford a small chunk of our monthly pay cheque to give their soldiers the best possible chance in a war they didn't choose.

I expected to see a lot of Ukrainian tank engagements, they have a well sized and equipped tank force not to mention their own manufacturing plant located at Kharkov. Yet there has been remarkably little footage of tank vs. tank combat.

To me that's just the same as soldiers on the ground which is far too close to an outright declaration. Not a sound idea idea at all.
