Indeed, and there is another case of iilogicallity from the Putin Conundrum. If, in his mind, Crimea is already Russia, then so are the other eastern regions of Ukraine. The only escape from this loony loop is to actually declare war, properly, and face the consequences from his own people.

Putin is in a hole and just can’t stop digging.

Isn’t a fake referendum followed by annexation to enable Ruzzia to ‘legitimately’ use conscripts to defend what they will claim is a part of Ruzzia? Not that the fact that something is illegitimate has stopped them so far.

Apparently he wanted 77 visas for him and his associates. Inlcuding wives/mistress so they could go shopping. US said they had to be diplomatic staff, they resubmitted a new list which the US vetted and approved, heard its around 12 -18 now

Latest info is that Putins speech has been postponed till tomorrow, very unusual.
At the same time comes a statement from the Chairman of the Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov: "There will be no general mobilization, but martial law may be introduced in some places".

Right... so no mobilization but martial law... in everywhere else but st Pete and Moscow, huh? To mobilize the peasants east of Ural but keeping the "real ruschist" happy?

Probably means, as per Luhansk & Donetsk, compulsory press-ganging of every male over 16 as cannon fodder in the annexed areas.

Slovenia to provide Ukraine with T-55 tanks, but before you think WTF, they are not standard but have been upgraded. That was the Centurion main gun.

https://mezha.media/en/2022/09/20/th...-armed-forces/

The M-55S is actually a modernization of the Soviet T-55 tank, the first tank of the Cold War, but it was carried out in the late 1990s and in general, the M-55S is a completely different vehicle.

The T-54/55 is a Soviet medium tank, not even a main battle tank, which weighs only 36 tons. And it is also the most mass-produced tank in history. Since 1947, more than 100,000 such cars have been produced! For example, most of the Soviet tanks during the Afghan war were T-54/55. This tank was manufactured in the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and China (Type-59/69/79). Of course, the former Warsaw Pact countries and their successors have many tanks of this type, which some of them tried to modernize. Among such countries was Slovenia, which converted its T-55s to M-55S in the late 1990s. There were a total of 30 such tanks and they entered the army in 1999.

The M-55S is significantly different from its predecessor. The tank received a new gun – a 105 mm Royal Ordnance L7 with a thermal insulation jacket, one of the most successful tank guns of all time. The tower and hull were covered with additional reactive armor, which even changed the silhouette of the tank, bringing it closer to modern ones. The M-55S received a digital ballistic computer and gun stabilization, a Fotona SGS-55 sight with a laser rangefinder, a Fotona COMTOS-55 commander’s sight, an improved engine, and new rubber-metal tracks, and even a LIRD-1A laser radiation detector linked to the smoke grenade launcher IS-6.

Yes, it’s not a Leopard 2A7+ or an M1A2 Abrams, but such a tank will come in handy while we’re still waiting for modern western tanks. So thank you, Slovenia!

The violence against civilians in Izjum (and other still occupied cities) is not random or accident. It bears the Russian signature of stabilisation and counter-insurgency operations. Normally they are conducted by second eshelon units and it's doctrine based.

That bunch of nutters are spouting off on Russian TV again, saying they should have struck London during the Funeral and took everyone out, all the leaders etc, also that we only have 245 odd nukes that could be instantly obliterated… not allowing of course that first they would have to find the boats which would actually be at sea.

I'd guess this would be on a train to Poland, then in a C-5M to the USA fairly quickly.
Priceless information

Sort of forgetting that the US has a whole lot more nukes - well distributed - and I have little doubt that taking out London (and the POTUS) would prompt turning Moscow into a sea of glass. Plus there would have been a bunch of other countries who would consider nuking London while their head-of-state was there an act of war.
Russia can't even defeat a 'weak' Ukraine - what chance do they think they'd stand against the entire western world.

Perhaps they're watching "The Mouse That Roared" on a repeat loop.

Not including jet engine powered cruise missiles or their new modern rockets, most of their ICBM's would most likely blow up on launch, causing a bigger problem for Russia than anyone else. I do get some amusement from Moscow Bobs ramblings, despite the fact that everyone else standing at the podium with him are discreetly rolling there eyeballs.
