I felt the same and seeing Bozo'z 6 point plan to solve the world's prblems, I fear we are in the hands of even less able people than back then. An Air Marshall on the BBC yesterday ( sadly didn't get a name) suggested that a No Fly zone based on a UN resolution would be viable and prevent the face to face NATO vs Russia problem. I imagine it would only work if the US were 100% behind it, which I doubt, but an interesting idea nonethless.

Interesting analysis - he reckons Russia will need to permanently garrison a minimum of half a million troops in Ukraine to keep a lid on the country.

No, of course not, but Putin doesn't care about that, just as Stalin didn't care about the what the people of East Germany, Poland, Hungary etc.,etc wanted at the end of WW2, which wasn't Soviet occupation.....

I very much doubt a no-fly zone could be implemented be under the auspices of the UN for a simple reason that has been repeated ad nauseum on this thread. That said, there does appear to be a head of steam building for some sort of air intervention, whether it be boosting the Ukrainian AF with legacy eastern European fighters (the Yanks seem to be warming to this idea after the EU got cold feet), or something more as alluded to be a former US ambassador on Sky this morning (in essence a defensive no-fly zone over Kiev and the west of the country with very clear RoE i.e. only to fire on aircraft or helicopters if they entered and then refused to leave after warnings). Not quite sure how the Ukrainian AF would fit into the latter - if they flew a sortie over the east of the country and then were engaged by the Russian air force, could they scoot back to the west and gain the protection of patrolling NATO aircraft (as sort of happened in Libya with the ground war)?

Is possible the UN could offer a way out for Russia if their military continues to struggle i.e. them to request a UN mandated ceasefire and peacekeepers, they keeping their forces in place wherever they are, Putin announcing "mission accomplished" and his military going back to the drawing board to figure out exactly what this all means for future of the country (i.e whether they are well and truly f*cked and will eventually become a Chinese satellite state).

Two observations about this - first, the powers that be in the Kremlin clearly pay attention to western media and are clearly concerned about what they say and the image of weakness it portrays (more of the same please, western MSM). Second, the man is clearly has become a germaphobe since the pandemic but I wonder if something more is behind this i.e. because he's immuno-compromised? Apart from his chubby cheeks, he does seem to be in reasonable health, but then who know what is going on 'behind the scenes'?

Did the Air Marshall address the issue of ground to air missile batteries located on Russian and Belorussian soil?

Debunked. That is how digital video compression normally works.

Ukraine captured a whole heavy artillery battery and I just wonder if there was some Grad or TOS-1 counterattack or what. Normally there is quite a buffer made of armor and infantry between artillery and enemy units so this video is quite surprising for me. Well done to Ukraine forces.

Re Vlad's heallth or not. He reportedly requires a weekly faecal sample for analysis from all his officials to ensure they are not carrying anything that may harm him. Maybe the Sunday Star & cancer story is not just a bit of fun?

I wonder what has attracted the interest of a Global Hawk that is currently scribing racetrack patterns at 52k feet just off the Bulgarian coast? Much too far away from Odesa etc to be monitoring things there, I would have thought.

Russian forces shell the humanitarian corridor in Irpen, just outside of Kyiv, #Ukraine as Ukrainians evacuate the civilians. CNN crew was at the scene and captured the moment. +18. #UkraineRussianWar
