UK Military registration sequence

Just been pondering over where the registration sequence will go after we reach ZZ999. Although there are many gaps which at the current rate of procurement would take many years I assume that the next registration would be AAA01. Any thoughts?

given the small amount to be ordered just go to numbers 1, 2, 3, - would be lucky to get to 3 figures...............

Well by my - public maths warning - reckoning there are over 675,000 combinations of two letters/three numbers. Are we really approaching the end? Especially when it seems the MAA is content to issue earlier sequence regs if asked - i.e. Watchkeeper I notice got some personalised WK prefixes.

How about three letters and two numbers....can you imagine the cost and problems in changing all of the computer forms from five fields to six?

recycle ones from the 1914-18 war - surely () none of those are still in the system - and they certainly aren't in the computer..............

Plenty of space in the ZL to ZY range... why not fill the gaps?

Mind you, the Registration Number is just that, it can be changed at will much like a car, the frame number cannot.

I think I read in the old Bruce Robertson book that they'd re-start with 101AA.
