- of interest to this forum because of his participation during WW2 with the RAF and Bomber Command. See ... Guardian obit.
His and his colleagues view on the waging of the bombing campaign make sober reading. Dyson estimated 10,000 Lancaster crew members lost their lives due to the escape hatches being too small, to the tune of one inch. His colleague Mike O'Loughlin, spent two years trying to get the powers that be to change the size. By the time he succeeded the war was nearly over.
