RAF Nimrod Mighty Hunter Youtube Video

A very interesting documentary following one crew in the early days of the a/c operations. Does anyone here want to hazard a guess what year this took place? Pre 1982 for sure , judging by the white and grey color scheme.

Cheers

Not my place to name faces on here, but I recognise the Nav, AEO (who appears to be the ac captain) and the guy in ordnance. All of whom were at Kinloss when I arrived there in 1977. So I would put the timeframe at around 1974 to 1978. They are all wearing the old airlite headsets and these where replaced with more modern improved headsets not long after I started. Obviously, it's Mark One days.

The Int O at 18 GP was, I think, Mike Sharp. I agree about Pete Rea. I think the captain was Bourne. I suspect pre 75 as I didn't recognise any others on 201.

Think the Rea should be Reay. We were on the same nav course.

There is a date on the monitor at 4:02. 2nd line looks like 7 Nov 79.

Pat. Who was the captain?

SV, thought it was but not sure. I think I did the AIT with him too.

PN,

You correctly identified the Captain - Gordon Bourne, SV got the First Nav - Pete Reay, who was ably assisted by John "TACAN" Teather, late of Transport Command.

Ty, thought it was Gordon but couldn't remember. He looks so young in the video, seemed much older at the time

Was the first pilot Flt Lt Austin? I just checked my logbook and it had him as Capt for late Nov 79. I know Gordon Bourne was captain prior to late Nov, as I held with that crew. (and joined it post OCU.)

Welcome to the idiot world of pprune patrob1237. I was beginning to think you'd vanished from the known world, glad to see you still extant after so many of my contemporaries have been falling off the twig. Madame and I are girding our loins to come home from Thailand on Sat ready to face the cold. However I feel that after a bijou snackette and even bijou-er dozette or two we should be firing on all cylinders again( a couple of clues for you there!) fairly soon. Take care of yourself.

Shouldn't be too long before the 'Fergineer' comes to confirm (if only to say Flt Eng got no airtime!!!)
I recognise the engineers there, I arrived 78 and departed 82.
GN was indeed my EngO
Suggest 79

Avtur, Mick G confirmed.

More cryptic stuff for those 'in the know', been awhile since I was at TOC with flaps.

Saw Gary in the video, still thinking of you guys.
