AQ

Section 1, Q.3

Downhill all the way - 'twas the Bombay when I frequented those places in the 70s/early80s. Uphill was the White Hart - a bit too couth for V-force JOs, then further on, the Duke William, which wasn't.

And if you made a mighty overshoot because of liquid ballast, keep rolling downhill, across the railway onto High St and the the Tandoori place on the left became reserve option.

Thanks, HTB, was racking my brains trying to remember the name. Last time I went (was it really over 20 years ago?) it was a proper curry house: hairy wallpaper, picture of the Taj Mahal and taped music that sounded like someone tuning a banjo. Bliss!

Hope it doesn't spoil the input to an excellent website. Some great posts from Phantom operators from many other NATO squadrons.

Well done, maxburner! You've won tonight's star prize: a delta-fit, lead-nosed stats gathering night dronex with 3 tanking slots (all proceeds to the Wing Commander's OBE fund).

I'd completely forgotten the 1.1M element of the RAT limit. I've always wondered how they came up with 515kts - 500 or 550 I could understand, but why 515? Maybe a test pilot or someone really good at hard sums could shed some light.

Bringing the thread sort of back to where it started: phantomstreaker, if your suspected walt looks around 40, he'd have been born around 1970, say. Has he ever explained how he made it onto F-4s in his early teens?

Ali Q,

No, he hasn't and continues to spin his web of untruths...even I as a mere rigger can answer some of your questions with reference to Courtney Mils Journal!

His time will come.....he has offered, should we acquire a phantom with engines that could ground run ( more likely to part the Dead Sea), to run the jet as pilot!

I'm sure some of my gentleman friends on here with the correct background would bite my arm off should this be the case?

Either that or he's perfectly legitimate and has a good plastic surgeon...

I think when they came up with 515 kts they were a bit optimistic - I had one that fell off at 500 so I've no idea of the real limit.

In the question theme; one for the old timers.

Where would Horace be taking V+8, in what, when and why?

Annecy Shootings Hero

If our Walt served with the Fighting Cocks in the time period, he would recognise the hero of the Annecy shootings....

Newbie here, mates. I'd be particularly interested in his CV also.

TIA and Kilo Sierra...

I think I warned you about him a while back on facebook Bart. Nothing about his RAF story adds up, then he's claiming that he was flying F/A-18's with the Bahrain AF which is strange considering they fly the F-16 not 18! Once anyone on facebook starts asking awkward questions about his past, they find themselves defriended in an effort to protect the lie. He's spouted the proverbial bravo sierra to a few former US aircrew as well as many former Luftwaffe Phantom aircrew members too, so I hope this thread gets his attention.

Just looked at the FB website, and there is a German documentary on youtube posted about an F-4 that has a fire on finals - with actual footage. The aircraft overshoots and the problem gets worse before getting better. Without being an armchair critic, would this have been a normal course of action (no confusion about it - clearly told that he was on fire)? I'd have thought continuing the approach and landing might have been more prudent? Just curious....
