F-111 Dump and Burn at the Adelaide Clipsal 500

YouTube - Last of the Flying Pigs! GD F-111 overflies the Adelaide V8 Supercar event

filmed from my roof without a tripod, probably the last time the 111 will fly past Adelaide.

(I can't seem to get the you tube function to embed my videos...)

F111 Dump & Burn

It certainly is something to see from the cockpit, of another aircraft which has just been overtaken. Remember having the Pig pilot dump & burn in front of our C130 back in the 1970's as we both transitted Pearce-Edinburgh at night. ATC had numerous reports of "flares" being sighted over a very large area.

fallmonk, I'm no expert, but the pilot who did the dump-and-burn at the 2000 Sydney Olympics said something to the press along the lines of "you don't see much, it's more of a peripheral glow to the rear." Not his exact words, but close. I'm sure an actual Pig pilot will either confirm or correct.

The Sydney 2000 Olympics D&B was at night - and hence the peripheral glow to the rear.

The Adelaide Clipsal was daylight, and if no heavy overcast is not really visible as it is behind the aircraft (but, remembering back, I think you could see it in the mirrors as you turned).

Now there will be more D&Bs before withdrawal in December - Riverfire in Brisbane, and also the ADF Airshow at Williamtown in September.

Without the insight of Foxtrot, I'd put money on a pit straight axis.

Since when does one get the option of a high show in Melb?

Who got the gig? The guy who did the display at Avalon?
