Question In need of the knowledge

Just a quick request for anyone with a few tips on brushing up my knowledge of RAF History, and just stuff I'll need to know for OASC.

I know all the 'read a daily paper' and 'subscribe to RAF news' blarb. Any websites for papers on current hot topics or books which are worth a read. Anything really.

Cheers Lads (and Ladies obviously)

OASC are just looking for a reasonable knowledge on current affairs to show that you're aware of what's going on in the world.. .Have a look at any of the broadsheets and bring yourself up to date on events in Israel, Afghanistan obviously, Iraq, etc They are not looking for the memory of a genius just a basic knowledge on four or five topics both at home and abroad.. .As for mil knowledge make sure you're aware of as much as possible surrounding your branch choices. Again they're just looking for an interest. Be aware of what the RAF is involved in at the moment, and maybe a few things from the past such as the Falkland Isles stuff.

Look in the archives for likeminded threads here and on the wannabes forum and you'll find loads of stuff.. .Best of luck!!. .

Charlieboy,

I will going be for my AFCO interview at the end of the month, and it’s been suggested that I should have a sound knowledge of 5 worldwide topics and 5 UK topics of the last 12 months (avoid natural disasters). This is for both the AFCO & OASC interviews.

The economist is good, the times and the financial times amongst others are also good. I find the Reuters website helpful.

Hope this is of some help, any other questions let me know, and I’ll pass on what I’m doing!

Good luck

Fra

Ps were you at the Gatbash, maybe it was another charlieboy!!!
