Chinook in West Hoathly this am?

Could be wrong as it was a long way off and my eyes aren't what they once were, but saw what looked like a Chinook at really low level in West Hoathly, Sussex at around 0915. Any ideas what they were up to ?

Why oh why do we see so many remarks when Chinooks are seen anywhere?? (rare to see a serviceable cab over the UK not within 5nm of Oddiham on an airtest??!?!!?!? )

Why not the same level of interest with Puma/Merlin????

(oh and no idea why it was there fella!)

Maybe because Puma only has a 5nm endurance so is never seen outside of Wallingford and Merlin is always in Dubai or somewhere equally exotic on a PR trip...

I saw a Herc and a Tornado this morning, do I win a prize?

Re the Chinook, they may have been on a Top Secret mission to worry livestock, annoy the public and add to global warming. Oh no I've said too much...............

Pretty sure theres some good sloping grounds, and Out of Area fields that are used down there for training... Been a while since i saw a booking out proforma from the CH47 Sqns, but id expect it was down to something of the sort... Just routine training

AlanM: people probably report Chinooks more 'cos they're such NOISY bastards.(or haven't you noticed; you probably don't get many where you live - well maybe only 50 a day anyway!!)

navy lynx

I saw a Royal Navy lynx over Bristol this morning. It was at medium height, and trailing a lot of smoke, but I think that was down to the female rating in the back.

It was a joke, it was a joke. But getting coat on anyway

A Puma managed to get all the way to the UK's premier helicopter unit yesterday, did they leave the Loadies at home to save weight?

I believe the question was something along the lines of ..."What were they up to". The answer, simply is: They were flying.
