Not a good result for the RAF! The nations finest losing to a hot rod. I reckon a Shar would have shown it a clean pair of heels!

Donning anti-flash and going NBCD state 1.

Since when did the Fag Chariot become the nations finest? The SHAR probably would have shown it a clean pair of heels though........... if it existed

Hardly, most SHAR's don't even have engines in them anymore ever since the government stopped trusting fish heads with looking after fast pointy things on their own.

A 7 used to be pretty quick off the mark. It was fairly close to ; 0-100mph in 5 secs, 0 - 150 mph in 7.5secs and so on. 7A would be quite a bit quicker.

In fairness I have to admit it wasn't a standard 56 Chevvy and it only had one occupant unlike the F3 which had two, so I guess deep fried Mars bars are off the menu at Leuchars now

Those in the US and Canada would have seen (or heard about) the Les Shockley trucks which race odd aircraft at airshows. Staged yes but very good fun.

56 Sqn F3

56 Chevy!! do you want me to explain it any slower for you?

ps. A race is only a race when its all the way to M2. Now who wants a go?

I think you are missing the point.

They raced a CAR and LOST!!

I guess when you've spent your life as second best, these things don't shock you.

Saudi, that is a cracking picture of the F3, but I thought 56 Sqn. colours were red and white?

Couldn't resist it...

Sammy Miller's HTP rocket car (c.1985) would beat the lot of you; 0-300 in about 3 secs!

Not at all sure what this thread is getting at.

Should we be putting AMRAAM and ASRAAM on 56 Chevvies - is that it?

(But would they get a gun as well?)

I could outrun an F3 from a standing start.

Over 5 yards!

Be eye watering when it overtook though!

F3 is second best to what? I'll give you an F15C/E ... but;

GR4? Certainly NOT the best at it's any of its various roles.
GR7? Great at airshows. Cr@p at anything else.
SHAR? You're having a laugh!!
Jag? Right?!

Assuming you're a FJ mate, then "pot - kettle etc"

If you're commenting from a ME standpoint, then I give you that the E3 is the best AWAC platform, the C130 is the best tactical transport a/c but you lose in any other.

In an F3 I've been M2.1 and chased down EVERY FJ you can mention. Turns like a floating log, but when you understand proper ACM and carry ASRAAM, then I care not for your nozzle position!

ps. Typhoon don't count yet until it can actually do a job!
