No matter what is eventually ordered Blair won't get to fly in it as he will be long gone.
Why the **** should'nt our PM travel in style? Love em or hate em, they are representing GB and we should fly the flag.
The Queens Birthday Flypast was seen as a great event, and indeed was. Lots of praise about the UK at it's best etc. Our PM, whoever he/she is, arriving on foreign soil in a dedicated aircraft reflecting our 'world' standing should be seen as no different.

Donald Rumstit travels in style when visiting Iraq and Afghanistan. He goes in a C-17A. I Remember a news story when he was first travelling to Iraq in a C-17 to meet troops in 2003. He didn't look very happy but he has since travelled in it a good few times.
The news story (Can't find it now) was stating that he was not happy with travelling in a military transport plane and wanted something a bit more jazzy like a C-32 or C-37 etc but the C-17 had all the kit fitted (Flares, Rcvrs etc) for such missions.
He, and Condi were seen also having a nice dinner with the C-17 crew of such a mission...in Bagram i think so he must of cheered up a bit since.....

See CBN 06-06 Royal & Ministerial Transport for the latest on this. The dept of Transport will run the show with 32(The Royal) sqn no longer involved in non operational Royal or ministerial flights. From the tone of the CBN it seems the announcement caught us on the back foot.
(Sorry but I don't do links and the CBN was too big to paste)
