Question UK ATCO Class1 Vision Limits

Hi a friend of mine recently applied for The NATS cadetship, He had to send his Eye sight prescription off with his application. They wrote back advising him that his eye sight didnt meet the requirements.

He does wear glasses for short sight, but isnt blind, he only really wears them for driving etc and dosnt require to wear them all the time. Im already a controller and also wear glasses and did so at my initiall medical and wouldnt say our eye sight is that different. Does anyone know what the exact vision requirements are for the UK ATCO's Class 1 Medical?

ATCO medical requirements are still covered by the CAA National Medical Certificates and not the JAR see CAA website

http://www.srg.caa.co.uk/pld/med/med_information.asp

and look in national medical requirements section Hope it helps
