Devil

Hee strobe,

Yes I passed the whire test but that is not enough. That test is piece of cake. on the left side you see 7 whires. those ones are numbered. Also the right you see 7 whires with different colours in a random sequence from A to G.

You say 1 matches F
2 matches C
etc.

This is only a warm up. The real test is the 1 with the flashes.

greetzzzz,

white

testing facilities

It would appear that there may be a way of getting a JAR Class1 medical for colour defectives BUT what mutually recognised state and which madical/eye practioners are most "liberal". Does anyone have the name of an establishment and a practioner?

hello ,
can somebody tell me what to chose between the Nagel anomaloscope and the spectrolux?Which one is easier ? Would anybody suggest me to receive them in holland?

I failed the holmes-wright test at Gatwick and I've been told to try those tests in order to recover a full Class1.

I'll be waiting for any response, thank you!

For Tony and Alberto..

If you read the whole CVD thread you may find lots of answers to your questions. Tony, I don´t think it´s about "liberal", you may fail one test but pass others due to your colour vision level of defficiency. Most medical examiners, especially at AMC/AMS, where initial examinations are done, goes strictly by rules. What you can ask them, maybe, it is just to do the colour vision test "unoficially" (some accept it and some don´t). What I suggest is to try all the lanterns and maybe you´ll find the way somewhere somehow. In my humble opinion this absurd CVD stuff will end up changing, but it is just an opinion.

Alberto, did you also fail the Beyne lantern at Gatwick? in my experience with colour vision testing, the Nagel Anomaloscope is the hardest one but like somebody said, what it is not good for one, maybe good for others.

Good luck.. and keep on trying!!

No I did not fail the Beyne lantern test, I only failed the holmes-wright!
I know some one will tell me to go and do a search but I can't really find any information about the spectrolux!
Would this be harder or easier than the anomaloscope?
I really don't know what to do, If to try these tests or simply give up.

Alberto, if you pass Beyne in Gatwick you don´t have to do Holmes-Wright.. so.. you failed, you passed or you didn´t do it??

i think it was the beyne lantern which I passed. After ishihara (3 mistakes), I was asked to sit on a chair and there was an obscured corridor in front of me which may have been about 4 or 5 meters long.In front of me, on the bottom of this corridor, there was going to be a sort of slideshow of circles. Each of them was divided into 2 semi-circles differently colored. I remember I had to call about 6 or 5 different colors. Well I suppose this was the Beyne lantern test, or is it? I'm confused. Anyway I know I have been given a restricted Class 1 at the end.

hi, I was reading your PM last night.
Anyway, I'll do the anomaloscope test here in Italy!
I feel much better about it, first of all cause I won't be spending a lot of money for a trip abroad and secondly, I've heard quite good news about the test so I'm hopefully going to pass it!

Thanks everybody for their help, I'll keep you posted!

I took the farnsworth recently and didn't pass...while I might take it again, because I don't think it was taken properly...I was wondering if I could ask you guys a few questions...maybe a favor.

I'm an American, and as you know we have SODA (which is a practical test). My concern is that it's once, and I want to know what I'm getting into so I have the best chances of passing, if I have to take it.

Questions:

1)What are the exact distances from the light source when taking this test?

2)Does it matter what time of the day you pass it? Should I aim for daylight?

3)Does it make a difference if you take it in the rain, as far as vision goes? Other weather factors effect the test?

4)What light patterns do they perform and how many e.g steady green and flashing red?

5)Is the green darker than a green-light you see driving?

6) Could you post an image of the lights at their proper distance, if possible?

I'm aiming to go to an airport and test this out...answer would help immensly. I plan to fly a heli, and unfortunately while these test don't make sense for most of us,,they definitely don't make sense for me.

I'll repost my old message here to help anyone that needs to find a Farnsworth test area.

Feel free to email answers, questions, or comments.

To our dreams,
Rick

*Best question in this whole thread, and believe me, I read the whole thing.

**I\'m going through the same thing, and I\'m quite fearful because of the lack of facilities in America for falant, and so forth. That and I really don\'t want to be left on with with SODA as the last option.

***Personally I\'ve bought this first.
http://www.guldenophthalmics.com/cc...t+&cat=&catstr=
I just want to know what I\'m getting in to. When I self-test, I usually get 2-3 wrong...and ocassionally one. So the fear of not knowing multiple locations (for this test) is in me as I know in you.

@This self-test is much bigger than the real one...atleast in my experience. May mislead you.

****Then I looked at agencies e.g
http://www.aviationmedicine.com/whatwedo.htm
@links old, but sites still worth looking at. I ask them all my FAA questions.
http://www.leftseat.com/falant.htm
They both offer you locations, but the latter only w/service. I asked the first one for the locations, and got three more additional locations than I previously held. note: they offer services in getting the paperwork done. While it can be done by one self, I might personally be lazy and use the first one (link), once I pass. 400 isn\'t that bad for a lifetime of flight.

*****Here are the locations that I have accumulated. Note: I haven\'t verified all of them, ...consider the top ones the most dependable. Please email me if you find any further locations for this test or any other (at [email protected])

Thanks, and I wish all of you the best

Re: Collective Color Blindness Thread

A very interesting paper - I commend it to all that read this thread.

I wonder if the CAA will take notice of it.

Might be time for another letter to CAA Towers....

Re: Collective Color Blindness Thread

Hi mates,
just an info.
Actually I havent the class one medical. Some months ago I made the ishihara test in Italy. Unfortunately I missed 4-5 (total of 14-15 images) and my optician said me: 'mate, you're an Ishihara victim!'... I've never noticed this 'problem' (?) before... but it looks like I have same problems (?) with green color.
Anyway, since I'm moving to Coventry, UK, in few days, I would like to know where I can undertake the Negel anomaloscope or a lantern in the midlands... 'coz before going to Gatwick I want to be sure to pass the class one without any restrictions...
any comments or suggenstions are welcome!
thanks to everyone,
A.

Is this similar to what you are shown for the colour tests at the CAA for a Class 1 Medical? If that's case, I *think* I've got normal colour vision.

Re: Collective Color Blindness Thread

Take nothing on the screen for granted. There is a whole range of adjustments on the screen that make it only sensible to rely on the real tests.
