Just out of interest, what affect would a diagnosis of ADD have on an FAA medical?

ADHD, as it's called in the UK, is a bit of a controversial diagnosis. At one time in the early 90s, I gather the makers of methylphenidate, the drug used to treat it, aka Ritalin, were considering withdrawing it in the UK because it was prescribed so little. Now, it's all the rage, especially in the USA.

There's no doubt the condition exists, but it is quite rare and very dramatic when you see it. In my opinion, many ADHD diagnoses are simply a reflection of society's inadequate approach to children, which sees medication as a substitute for parenting.

True ADHD would be insane to fly with, but if you are serious I would get the diagnosis reviewed. If you can persuade a psychiatrist you don't have it you're on much better ground.
