Don't know anything about these guys, but have come across their website
http://www.caledonianseaplanes.co.uk
If you have time, highly recommend doing the rating in Vancouver Is, Canada or in Alaska.
AWESOME stuff.

Hi there.
The guys at Caledonian Seaplanes are very friendly. It's only a small operation using a Piper Cub on floats based on the very picturesque Loch Earn in Scotland.
I believe that it's £140 per hour (No VAT on top) training with exam fees to add etc. Takes a minimum of 5 hours training if you're good and lucky with the weather. It's not just floatplane flying, Marylin does a very good job of introducing you to the skills of mountain flying at the same time.
Only outfit in the country that do it and they need your business to survive another year.
Hope that helps.

It is SO MUCH fun you've got to try it. You can go to Canada, but on returning to UK will need to do 4-5 hrs minimum to convert to UK rating plus a written Seamanship exam. So, why not just take a week off work and come up to Scotland and fly your butt off in a oner - no jetlag on the way home either So go on, support those good people at Caledonian Seaplanes.
