Hi all,
I am new to pprune. I live in Melbourne Australia, 22 years old, 250 hours, CPL and instructor rating. Also have an aviation degree. Can't get my first job
Any advice would be great! I am willing to travel any where and do any type of GA work (charter, instructing etc.) to get some experience.
P.S. Any RV builders here? I am currently building an RV8 in my garage (2 seat tandem tail dragger, 200 HP Lycoming engine) Hope to fly it round the world one day.
Cheers fellas

Well, if you want a job in GA then you'll more than likely have to move to somewhere that isn't overly pleasant.
The most popular destination for low houred guys (and girls) is the Kimberley region. Kununurra is one of the mecca's. (That's where I went and it worked)![Big Grin](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies2/eusa_clap.gif)
There's other regions. West Kimberley has Broome and Fitzroy Crossing. Hall's Creek is worth a look. The tourist season is well under way so you've probably missed your chance for this season. Although, a few do get a start post August when the full time folk burn out and head east/south.
Look at Kalbarri, look at Port Hedland *shudder*.
Have a scratch around South Aust too. There's a few smaller operators that might look at you.
NT? yeah, if you get to Darwin you'll more than likely be sent to an aboriginal community. Brace yourself for that one. Ayres Rock does scenics. Again, you've probably missed the season start.
Mt Isa can be hit/miss.
So, to narrow down the search. Look online at the yellow pages and target scenic/charter/flying schools. This will give you a list to work from.
Now, next to no one has got a job "up north" by sending resumes. You'll have to go and meet them. Use the phone to suss out who is likely to employ a low houred guy so you don't waste time.
Find a location, go there and wait. Get a job doing any thing just to get known and more importantly, feed yourself. Get known as someone who is reliable, keen and can work in a team.
The luckiest people I know were the ones who worked the hardest to make it happen.

Take redsnail's words as Gospel!
Exactly right with everything said. Although I can fill in a few gaps.
I am currently working for a company in Broome flying C210's around. Have also been an instructor.
Our employing has now finished for a while, BUT mid year, once the guys which have been here for a while go there might be a spot. BUT also there are 8-9 guys in town wiating for that job. Best advice is to get some C210 ICUS time, F-Class drivers license and Medium Rigid, and come up when you are ready. GET C210 TIME!!!! Otherwise you'll be like everyother pilot in this aera: 200-250 hrs with C210 endorsement (which dont really exist anyway). Get ICUS or just pay for it. Its worth its weight in gold!!!!
Best time to be here is Feb to get first interview but employing doesnt really start until April.
Good luck.
BTW I flew an RV6A from Perth to Avalon this year. Great aircraft. Very sensitive though! Almost irritating.
