EPST IPAS Applet problem on Mac?
Hi
Has anyone tried to take the online test lately at
APST IPAS
I can't access it from my mac. It says
"No Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition v 1.4.1 support for APPLET!! Test your mouse
Test your keyboard No Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition v 1.4.1 support for APPLET!!
I have however got all Java up to date. Tried it in Firefox, Chrome & Safari
Anyone know of a work around? or what do I do to Java Preferences to let it work
Many thanks

Hi,
My answer might not be in context w/ the APST test .... But I might help you w/ Your Java problem.
Disclaimer: Currently I don't use Mac / OS X, but had similar problems couple of months ago on my Ubuntu Linux while developing some applets.
My advices:
[1] From the description You wrote, I'm assuming Your Mac uses an older version of Java2, a 1.4.1 ... Which is very old. Do this: Run the Apple Terminal application. Then write the following command:
java -version
What does it say? Which version is set as default?
[2] Sometimes older version of Java conflict w/ newer ones. You wrote You did do an upgrade. Did You try to first uninstall all older versions of Java SDK / JRE, and then install only latest version of Java? (Try to install only the Java JRE, it should suffice for running the applets.)
3.Use following pages
How do I test whether Java is working on my computer?
Java Tester - What Version of Java Are You Running?
for testing if Java applets work?
P.S.: I'm a long time pprune lurker, software developer, ATPL one-day-plan-to-be, ... Today, while scouting the forum, found a perfect topic to break from silence. Great forum you have here. Lots of intel. Hope I can on my path of realising my goles also find support and help w/ the flyin' part.
