Caravan Type rating
With the alleged relaxation of the restrictions on Single Turbine Engine IFR has anyone any comments as to the value of doing a Cessna caravan type rating?

This way I see it.
Its airmed who are offering the tpye rating on there caravans. And its Airmed who are flying these things around.
Could this be airmed just making some extra money?
If the Caa were to relax the rulings about single engine Ifr commercial flights then there would be a lot of companies who would invest in Tbms, caravans and pc12s and so on. If this happened then a rating would be a good thing.
but its not going to happen next monday, or for that matter the monday after.
and if it did happen then the companys who are swapping there twin engined machines for single engined ones would use there pilots and not replace them with new ones just on the basis of saving a bit of money on the cost of the type ratings.
Unless im missing the point.

completely agree with homer j. was told by airmed that single engine turboprop rating would come in in june. has it? don't think so. Had a mate who was convinced, did the rating and is now stuck with a rating he legally can't use.
