FlyBe Sim Check

Went for interview for FO a month ago and still waiting for a reply. One other person had an interview at the same time and sadly got a refusal but I haven't heard anything. Is it a matter of no news is good news or have they just lost my application after the interview? I know they are exceptionally busy but DD did say phone up three weeks ago but cannot get through to him>
Anyone any ideas???

Couple Of Shandy's Later On I Think
At last!!!!!!
I recieved the letter this morning just as I was leaving the house.
Start at the end of march on the Q400 base to be confirmed.
I don't think its sunk in yet that i've finaly cracked it, just the small matter of a type-rating to get through yet.
Many thanks to all the guys who have helped and offered advice it was much appreciated.
When I get time i'll do my best to keep anybody who's interested up to date on how things are going.
Wheres that copy of "handling The Big jets" I'd better start stretching the brain muscle again.
Chinagirl, just be patient I know its frustrating but as you said no news is good news.

Age ?
Can anyone who's been offered recent interviews and/or sim checks give an idea of your qualifications, experience age, especially anybody over 40 who has been given a chance ?

![Question](https://www.pprune.org/images/infopop/icons/icon5.gif)
Recently I sent a CV to FlyBE. I got a response stating that FlyBE would keep my details on file for future reference. Can anyone indicate how much chance there is that you will actually be invited for an interview, especially now that all positions seem to be filled.
I have a DHC8 rating (not on my JAA-licence); 1500 Hrs. on the DHC8 and I am a groundschool/flightinstructor on the DHC6 for my present company. TT: 2200 Hrs.
From what I understand FlyBE's interest goes out to pilots with lower Total Time's. Can anyone confirm this?
Thank you in advance.

Flybe take a mix of experience levels, from newly minted types to guys with 1000-2000 hrs.
To my knowledge any remaining places have been allocated but the hold pools are being topped up ready for the next load of recruiting (whenever that may be).
I wouldn't worry if your low hours or more experienced, as long as the company likes you at interview and you pass the sim rides thats all that matters.
On my coarse we have a mix of ages from 20-30+ and a whole range of flying experiences from intergrated with fairly low hours, to instructors with between 1500-2000 hrs.
Best of luck guys

FlyBE take people from all backgrounds. I myself was a low houred pilot and I got a job with them 18 months ago. the key is persistance!!
At the moment, from the inside it seems that the recruitment has ceased. There were two courses in April that have been cancelled due to the fact that people are NOT resigning at the moment. However, I do believe that Virgin are which will mean that a few of our guys will be going to charter companies etc. So keep your fingers crossed and keep banging in those CV's and I am sure that things will come good!!!

Just wanted to bring this to the top to check if the Woodford BAe146 sim profile has changed much.
Impartial said a while back:
Does this still sound about right.
Also if anyone cares to be a little more specific, I would be grateful. IM or e-mail if you prefer.
Thanks in advance.
Impartial said a while back:
The profile at Woodford was take off, General Handling, intercepting and tracking, radar vectors to ILS. Then swap seats, other guy has a go, then swap seats and basically a circuit culminating in ILS. Then swap seats again!
Also if anyone cares to be a little more specific, I would be grateful. IM or e-mail if you prefer.
Thanks in advance.

There is not much more to say really.
It is pretty basic, and your multi-pilot skills are just as important as flying the thing.
Learn the basics on the sheet you get but dont go mad trying to remeber all the details as you will not remeber it when doing the business. You will get coached through the first half of eachothers go, and then he'll sit back more and let you get on with it. Important to show an improvement, you're not expected to be perfect.
And remember to work together, use the other guy/gal to set power for you, heading bug etc...
Good luck

Sorry RR I don't know the answer to your question, but being in the sim check holding pool myself, I was wondering if anyone knows where the nearest BAE146 sim is such that I might be able to get a bit of practice in prior to my sim check?
Does the one at Woodford get rented out to the public? What about any other 146 sims in the UK? Failing that, can anyone recommend any other sim that handles a bit like a 146?
Cheers

Sim Check
The sim is not too difficult.
Standard departure out of Birmingham I think, track to a VOR on a radial, track away from the VOR on another radial, raw data ILS.
You then get the same without any help from the instructor
All is thoroughly briefed and the instructor is very pleasant.
Try the 727 sim at Bournemouth - it is analogue just like the 146 although you only have three thrust levers !!
Good luck and do not worry too much

R-R & Penworth.
As Prickie says, Sim check fairly simple, however you might want to brush up on basic E-FIS as I did mine on the 146-300 sim.
I actually found Flt Sim 2004 0f more use rather than renting a full motion sim.
Oh yes, you usually get to fly PF and PNF on a departure, Vectors and raw data ILS.
Don`t think it matters whether you go first or second, first person gets talked almost all the way round, whilst the second has less instructor in - put. But both of us passed anyway!
Cheers

Wishing you a positive outcome!
