Serious Help Needed Please!!

I am 20 and have always wanted to fly.

However my passion for the ultimate goal i seek seems to die down the more and more i try.

I have good qualifications and a hell of a lot of determination, however like so many it seems i cant find the finance to fund my training, i have tried all the sponsorships going and never seem to get much response.

Is there something that i am doing wrong, where can i find the finance or help to start my training.

Are there other ways i am not looking at.

Kind regards

it is tough, have you considered the military? you must want to join the RAF though not just to get a licence.
Otherwise it seems you are stuffed. You have your youth so keep plugging away at the sponsorship something will happen i promise.

What on earth are you talking about, eager?!

Sponsorships are not a guarantee of anything!

Mach 0.79, if you really have determination and no money, then use your good qualifications to get a well paid job, save up £35k and then get into training. It won't take more than a few years, and by that time the market might be a bit better.

Eagerbeaver is right about the RAF/RN/Army, tho- it's no good joining just to get a cheap licence. It doesn't work like that.

Ciao!

In reply i do have a good job at the moment and it pays ok, however it will take years to save the money i need to begin my training.

I have already started saving but its a slow process and i am so eager to start.

The first thing to do is to pass the CAA/JAR class one medical.
No point thinking about professional flying without being assessed medically fit.

Then consider some of the options below:

Banks [HSBC to name but one] have been willing in the past to provide soft loans for full time training courses.
You would need to put forward a business plan to convince them that you were a sound investment.

If you don't feel comfortable with this plan, then the modular route is another option. Start with the PPL, and go from there. Distance learning for the JAR written exams.

At 20, you have age on your side.

If you are really determined to get there then you can. However as with most other things in this life the only person you can rely on is yourself. Save those pennies and look at modular training as a serious option. Keep applying for sponsorships but look on them as a bonus if they come along not as the answer. The more people see you are committed to aviation the better your chances of being taken seriously. At twenty we all want to set the world ablaze tomorrow but the truth is time really is on your side.
Best of luck

I agree with ecj...

Why dont you start with just a PPL ... That way you can work, save, and log hours all at the same time! ( Thats what im doing now, although im under PPL training and im 21 ) and also im hopping that the market will get better than it is at the moment in about 2 years or so.

Best of Luck
