For Immediate Release:
New Delta Seaplane Service Set to Take-Off End of 2010 as Shenzhen Airport Ferry Terminal Services Company Ltd Signs Deal with Hong Kong Seaplane Operator ‘Waterfront Air

(Shenzhen January 6, 2010) - The Shenzhen Airport Ferry Terminal Services Company Limited and Waterfront Air Limited today signed a memorandum of understanding to operate seaplane services from Shenzhen Airport Ferry Pier to various destinations in the Greater Pearl River Delta commencing in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Under an exclusive agreement, Waterfront Air Limited will locate its China Headquarters in Shenzhen, and will develop seaplane services to Greater Pearl River Delta destinations such as Macau, Hong Kong and Guangzhou using the Shenzhen International Airport Ferry Pier as a base to conduct hub operations.

The Shenzhen Airport Ferry Terminal Services Company Limited will provide the facilities and services required as a base of operations, including infrastructure and service support. “The connectivity which the seaplane service provides will greatly enhance the attractiveness of Shenzhen Airport’s ‘Fly via Shenzhen’ project,” said Lizhong Fan, Deputy General Manager of The Shenzhen Airport Ferry Terminal Services Company Limited.

“Depending on the regulatory process, we expect to open additional water landing areas and be in operations before the end of 2010” said Waterfront Air co-founder Peter de Kantzow. “We know there is tremendous demand for high speed transportation alternatives which can link the greater Pearl River Delta, waterfront to waterfront, and provide the prestigious experience we offer”.

Due to its strategic location, Shenzhen Baoan International Airport will become a super cargo gateway and regional passenger hub in Southern China. “We believe that more and more passenger traffic from national destinations will pass through Shenzhen to Hong Kong and Macao,” said co-founder Michael Agopsowicz. “This factor will greatly simplify future expansion of Waterfront Air’s routes to other regional destinations, and allow us room to grow. We look forward to a long and successful cooperation with Shenzhen Baoan International Airport”.

"Onya" Peter, a chip off the old block.
My guess is that the ongoing problems in Hong Kong lie at the door of the Marine Department rather than CAD. They can only think in two dimensions.
