Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

Glass cockpits in GA - help needed with a research project

I’m a part time MSc student at Cranfield University, and as part of my studies I’m currently running a research project looking at the emerging use of glass cockpits in general aviation. The aim is to find out what sorts of problems (if any) that GA pilots commonly experience in using modern glass cockpits.

I’m hoping to find some friendly flying instructors, with experience of glass cockpits, who can volunteer a small amount of their time in the next few weeks to help with my research.

I would like to conduct a short face-to-face interview with each volunteer, lasting hopefully no more than one hour, to discuss any common glass cockpit-related setbacks that students might have, and collect some associated ‘war stories’.

I’m located in SW London, so looking for participants in London/ SE (Heathrow, Gatwick areas) and M1 corridor up Milton Keynes.

I am not associated with any organisation, and all information will be treated in confidence.

If anyone can help me, or knows anybody who will, please could they contact me by email, preferably by the end of May.

Email: [email protected]

Many thanks,
Mike Chamberlin

Thanks major_tom, some useful references there, that's my bedtime reading sorted :-)

IIRC that advisory circular was AIC P 070/2010 (09-SEP-2010)
Part 2 - Aeroplanes with electronic flight instrumentation systems (EFIS)

Cheers,
/mike

Just a thought....
If you did interview via Skype, you would reach a much broader forum
