Can somebody please clarify what are the minimum qualifications needed to continue instructing at the end of one's career with regard to medical class and level of professional licence ? I'm probably getting senile or is it just the idiosyncracies of JAR-FCL ??

NIMBUS - Assuming that you wished to instruct for remuneration:
1. Obtain a JAA professional licence.
2. Complete an approved course of training at a school approved for the JAA Flight Instructor (Restricted) (FI(R)) course
3. Pass the Flight and Ground tets with a Flight Examiner Instructor (FIE).
This would qualify you to instruct, under the supervision of a nominated FI, for the PPL and CPL (VFR elements). Further courses of training would be required to qualify as an Instrument Rating Instructor (IRI) and ME Class Rating Instructor (CRI)
