Comparing webcam res and speed

I am looking at web cams, and deciding for a 640x480 or a 320x240 for half the price? The internet speed will typically be 512/128 or 512/256.

The question is, will the 640x480 res be really jerky or will be just fine compared to the lower res one?

Thank you

320x240 will give you a frame rate of about 3 per second. The next size up is 4x bigger in sq area, so you'd be lucky to get 1 frame/sec.

Depends what you are looking at I suppose...
