Love wins over Branson for free flights
So goes the headines in a local paper!!! After Courtney Love's behaviour onboard a flight from LA recently, and after being arrested and cautioned she is awarded 4 free first class tickets on Virgin, the article went on to say. 'We've sorted it all out now' Love says!!!
Nice one Sir Richard - do the Crew get anything??

Would anyone risk their life to save a rude pax if the plane was on fire and full of smoke? I wouldn't. I've got to the stage where I refuse to take crap off anyone.
Stupid Branson!

Great behavior from a chief executive backing his staff! THe man seems to have no sense of responsibility bar getting his name in the papers...and the more foolish stunts like this, the less respect for his operation. How disappointing this must be for the crew involved on that aircraft!

I read the article and can't believe it. I feel sorry for all Virgin staff as this show how much your airline really cares about you. The worse Courtny Love (who she....ED) behaves the more free first class tickets she gets?!?!?!?

From the BBC website:
Love makes peace with Virgin
Sir Richard and Love spent half an hour talking
Virgin Atlantic has agreed to fly Courtney Love back to Los Angeles after she met the airline's chairman, Sir Richard Branson, at a party.
The rock star was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Tuesday after cabin crew complained about her behaviour during the flight. She was let off with a police caution.
Love blamed her bad language on her arrest but said she was unhappy with her treatment by cabin crew.
Love: "A little bit out of order"
Virgin founder Sir Richard said Love had apologised to him when they met at actor Kevin Spacey's Old Vic fundraising bash in London.
"Virgin Atlantic was built thanks to the rock industry so I like to think we are a bit more understanding than most airlines," he said.
"Courtney was a little out of order on the flight over and apologised to me. We are looking forward to flying her back to LA.
"Perhaps Virgin's new slogan should be that 'Rock stars swear by us'," he joked.
Virgin Atlantic was founded in 1984 with money from Sir Richard's record label and retail chain of the same name.
Love said the pair had got on so well he had offered her four first-class tickets to travel again with Virgin.
'Highly exaggerated'
Virgin Atlantic said it was happy to fly Love back home with her entourage, although her tickets had already been bought and were not free.
Love had flown to London from LA to take part in a charity concert organised by Spacey and Sir Elton John.
She was taken off the flight at Heathrow by officers after cabin crew had complained about her behaviour.
But she told waiting reporters the "brief verbal disagreement" had been "highly exaggerated".
Love said she had complained that staff did not let her friend sit in first class with her.
Love has had a career marked with controversial antics
The crew said they tried to calm Love down but that she refused to sit in her seat and put her seatbelt on.
The captain called the airport as the plane, carrying 201 passengers and 20 crew, was on its approach to Heathrow.
Staff on the ground alerted police who were waiting for her as the plane touched down.
When asked how she felt about her treatment at the hands of the airline, the singer said: "I have been flying British Airways for a long time and I will continue to do so.
"This is my second time on Virgin and my first time wasn't so great either."
So... can we expect certainbrothers to start 'glassing' crew on VS soon??!! Some might say that Dicky is only half right - the other half was built by Dr Cheong's cash...
Until they get FLAT beds and join an alliance...

Who the f*** is Courtney love anyway. Just cos she's somebody's widow, she thinks she can behave in a digusting manner. I'd never heard of her before this. Needs a good whipping in the town square.

She says 'she normally flies with BA and will continue to do so'.
I hope not.I work for BA and no matter how bad times are neither BA,VIRGIN or any other crew need to put up with this type of behaviour,be it from a Rock star(when??!!),an executive or a tourist.
Rude and abusive passengers=POLICE and not nice chats with ever so nice publicity grabbing CEO's,backing her actions when he should have been banning her from futher travel with Virgin
and backing his Cabin Crew,what a to*ser.
To the crew who have to carry her back I hope you treat her with the contempt she deserves.
You're a great bunch at Virgin and hope to see you all soon in the 'Truck'!!

publicity
Everything about this case is just promoting free publicity for Virgin/Branson and Love. She'll do something similar again and again. Her image is quite powerful and it sells. One thing that I find a bit concerning is that her actions can promote more behaviour like that. The whole thing should have been kept hush hush. The crew involved in her case should have recieved some type of award or compensation.

How ridiculous is this ? Just because she is semi famous she gets a pardon from the police and virgin atlantic ?
How dare richard branson undermine his staff like that, reminds me of a similar virgin blue incident at OOL last year where by crew booted off an aggressive man and just because branson was flying on the same a/c he went and had a chat to him and got him back on the flight.
Did he not agree with the judgement of his cabin crew? Not fair ! However, I guess it is his airline and he can do whatever he likes !

But there's no such thing as bad publicity, as anyone who remembers Sir Richard's handling of the Sex Pistol's career will confirm.
But how this will persuade the travelling public to fly Virgin, I don't know. Perhaps they want to see B list celebs having tantrums. Something to keep you amused when the IFE is knackered again?

Disgusting!
Please how can we accept this?
Where are all the journalists, where are VS employees?
What about VS cabin crew morale after this disgusting outcome?
I am disgusted.

I wonder if the Police decision not to charge her had anything to do with the fiasco of Peter Buck's trial last year. That cost a fortune, and went nowhere. Perhaps the famous are immune to prosecution now.

Virgin have just issued the attached statement from Richard Branson
Some recent newspaper stories about Courtney Love and her actions onboard VS08 have given me real cause for concern and I want to ensure that you understand what really happened.
Without a doubt Courtney Love behaved unacceptably aboard our VS08 flight. When I was told about Love’s behaviour I called the crewmember who was directly involved in the incident and expressed my concern for her well being. I also praised the professionalism of the crew onboard VS08 and commended their efforts to resolve this situation whilst continuing to perform their duties for the other passengers onboard.
As a result of her actions Ms Love was cautioned under Section 5 of the Public Order Act. If she were to do it again she would certainly receive more than a caution. This shouldn’t be viewed as a ‘let off’ – the police took this course following a thorough investigation and only after Courtney Love admitted to the offence and apologized for her actions. After careful consideration we have given Ms Love and her companions one more chance to fly on Virgin Atlantic to make their return journey to the US.
Their tickets were already bought and were not a gift from me. I don’t believe in rewarding bad behaviour.
The safety of all our passengers and crew is of paramount importance to me. Disruptive passengers are rare due to the training and professionalism of our crew. We will not tolerate disruptive behaviour by passengers on board any of our aircraft, always report it to the authorities and always push for prosecution.
I’ve always backed my staff in situations like this and will continue to do so.
