Physical at Air NZ and Qantas

Hi all,

Looking for general opinions on my physical fitness to fly with these airlines.

I'm over 40 and hoping to return to cabin crew work (long haul) and a bit concerned about the physical:

I wear contacts, is that usually okay (soft disposables)?
Hearing; deaf in one ear, born that way. Otherwise perfect?
Stomach: ulcerative colitis, no symptoms due to ongoing medication (would have to stop meds for months to get sick again)?

Now I used to fly for a major international carrier and the ears and eyes weren't a problem ( also speak foreign languages so can't be all that deaf and blind). The stomach illness came after but is a completely controlled condition.

I wonder though if these airlines have strict no-nos or a list of 'banned' illnesses or medications. Would be a shame to ace the interview but fail a physical. Otherwise completely fit - running, swimming, gym, etc.

Will my age also be a factor in them telling me, well, maybe domestic routes are better? Not really worth giving up my day job (and taking a pay cut) to fly domestic or trans Tasman - I need real overseas work.

thanks in advance
