British Airways vs. BASSA (current Airline Staff Only)
How come when BA want to challenge any ballot by Unite they appear to be in court the next day but when UNITE need to challenge BA in the courts over the staff travel issue it takes months (or possibly years).
Is the UNITE legal team actually doing anything or are they on pay as you go

on the basic pay that the gulf carriers earn, hourly pay, back to the very bottom of the seniority list, and living a long way from home. I have no doubt that at some stage they will ask them selves if it was all worth it?

Staff Travel Court Action
Well it is going to be interesting to see how BASSA's figures of 7000 staff losing their ST to what BA state to be the case stands up in court, of course that will not affect the outcome of the case but will certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons.

BASSA/Unite is going to court to challenge the legality of removing a crew member.........it is nothing to do with staff travel!!
It really is time that people got themselves fully informed as to what is going on...... galley fm is complete bollox, bassa comms blinkered, BA comms tows their party line. Only way to understand the actual state of affairs is ...
1. read everything you get from the union
2. read everything you get from BA
3. read the judgement on the previous court case (Malone and other vs BA)
4. Treat everything on the BASSA forum with an articulated lorry load of salt
5. Write to the Unite leadership and ask them what is going on
6. Write to the BASSA leadership (Not the same as 6)! and ask them to explain their actions
7. Write to Arthur Scargill and ask him what he would do differently
8. Go and look your manager in the face and ask them what is on the table, what has been on the table and where you are now placed.
9. Write to Bill Francis and ask him what is in the future for YOU and what will resolve the present dispute.
10. Write to Duncan Holley and tell him to get a life, and butt out

The British Airways cabin crew dispute is set to return to the courts. The Unite union said it will lodge an appeal at the high court this week over the withdrawal of travel concessions for almost 7,000 of its members who went on strike earlier this year. Staff took 22 days of strike action in the first few months of the year, disrupting flights and costing BA more than £150m.

Ottergirl if life and the money in the gulf is so good then why haven't people been leaving BA in the thousands to go there. Why did you come back? Have you ever heard the old joke, what's the only thing an Emirates stewardess has that a BA one doesn't? A rejection letter from BA.... well maybe now a termination letter as well.

Juan, an appeal can only be heard when there has already been a ruling, there is no such ruling in the case of staff travel. It has not gone through a court! (The Guardian talking bo**ocks, fancy that!)

Whether the Grauniad use the word appeal in a legal sense or not does not change the fact that UNITE have announced that they will be taking this to court for a ruling. Can we now stop splitting hairs?

Jealous or what!
This was taken from another forum after the Haneda and EZE flights were announced on BA
Why do these crew think? that all the new crew will give a second rate service. I've flown with several temps who have got the job on MF and they were all 'first rate' IMO.
No they wont get box payments but more importantly to you, nor do you, IF in fact MF are doing these trips.
Whatever, I couldn't give a toss anymore. Good luck to the brown noses. I don't fancy paying 6 grand to sit in club for 13 hours and get second rate service from a school leaver. We get the last laugh as they wont be getting box payments on these flight, only about £30. They can have them.

Also whose fault is it that BASSA are getting no input into which crew are flying which routes! This opportunity was in many (all? I lost track) of BA offers. All (definitely all rejected by BASSA)

Christmas Trips?
It may seem some way off but since it's gone quiet the next big issue may be Xmas working?
In the past it has been given some sort of "Duty Travel" status for staff travel nominees, but are BA going to allow strikers to take their nearest and dearest away? It could be a potential nightmare!
If BA say no travel for nominees, I imagine the first response will be to go sick at the last minute and cause massive disruption. However, the marginally more intelligent than DH at Unite will probably spot the pitfall of 'pattern sickness' and issue another warning not to.

The new routes are probably only being flown now because they will be New Fleet. The economics just wouldn't work otherwise. Imagine the box payments and allowances on EZE and HND.

the company would have quite happily flown them if BASSA had shown an ounce of maturity and actually sat at the negotiating table. Sadly they squandered the opportunity to negotiate having new crew on the existing fleets. Not only would we have had two new routes we would have also had an extra free ticket, shares in the company, no strikes, everyone keeping staff travel and none of the strikers left sitting alone in their rooms downroute feeling sorry for themselves.
