Calling wobble2plank "wubble" was not advisable, particularly as it is all to easy to turn "Watersidewonker" into a risible word of ridicule.
I think your alternative much more appropriate.

I notice that MissM has not refuted the quotation from her message #549.

MissM - old contract '95 stewardess - basic salary only must be what two VS stewardesses cost in total - part-time too and doing above your hours indicate you must be getting some really good paying long-range trips - are you one of those who would rather strike the company bust than give up anything?
winstonsmith
Just one example, as a guide to the sort of money we are talking about. A week or so ago while visiting cc friends and discussing the various threads on this subject, we added up his wifes pay slips over the last 12 months.(with her agreement!) Old contract purser on WW Lhr working 50%.
Total pay and allowances approx £24000. So about £48000 pa for a full time contract.
No wonder there is a fight to keep this sort of reward.

What is the cost to BA for tickets for pensioners that obviously in your eyes are on the scrap heap and living tax free in Cyprus, Spain etc (there is tax to pay in every country you mention as it happens - and also the island between the French and English coast as well).
Now that we all have to be "computer -literate" to actually obtain ANY rebated tickets what cost is it to BA to actually honour the terms of early retirement? Especially as it brings in money to BA !!!!!

If the moderate BA CC dare not go on the crew forum, could we not find a way to convince contributors to that forum to come on to this thread?
We would all benefit from a robust exchange of views, er, wouldn't we?

So we are onto staff travel now just a bit of light relief from the mud slinging of the past 30 pages or so we all know who gets the better deal here. If Virgin is so fantastic why do people leave VS to come to BA i never hear of anyone going the other way maybe they have better perks such as staff travel could be one reason. So more snow and ice on the way i hear could this be the winter of discontent we heard so much about in past history repeating itself.
So, which is it?
The amount of crap flying round is unbelievable - as an educated bystander looking in, most of it seems to be from the BASSA corner.

Winter of discontent if, like me and my wife, are ex-Flyglobespan staff.
The more I read this thread, the angrier I get.
I'd snap your hand off for the new terms being offered as they are STILL far better than those with any other UK carrier. Realise your 'HALCYON' days (A term that will mean a lot to all GSM staff!!) are over.
You still have jobs. Soon you won't unless you drag yourself into the 21st century. Don't EVER think that BA are too big to go under. As
has been posted on here already, far far bigger companies with the title BRITISH have been allowed to go to the wall.
You'd have all been at home with Red Robbo and the rest of his ilk, at British Leyland, in the 70's...AND where is he, and where is British Leyland?
But, as they say, there are none so blind as those that will not see.
Unbelievable.

Oh I have, and shall.
After twenty one years with bmi/baby and now GSM (grrrr) etc I will just be grateful of a job.
And if it feeds my family and pays the bills, then I'll just be damned glad of it.
Priorities, you see.
You are on a hiding to nothing. I've seen your scenario re-enacted so many times over the years. And with the same outcome.
Thanks for your advice, though. Appreciated. And no tongue-in-cheek either.!
Happy New Year.

I look forward to welcoming Little Blue on board as a new recruit, and taxying past VV on his cold, lonely picket line somewhere obscure on the Bath Road.
And then taking off into a bright, prosperous future.

As I am now employed in Corporate Aviation my payslip has no effect on BA!
Unfortunately though, some of my passengers do have an effect on BA, they no longer use BA for their employees business travel due to the threat of your IA.

I understand here that Bassa refused to negotiate, but others are adamant they were negotiating and/or willing to genuinely negotiate.
Can we get some actual facts here, rather than hearsay?
Who can enlighten me?

And, please, can you stop talking so much about PAY.
The issue [unless I've completely missed the point of the last 100 pages] is that BA want to reduce manning levels for LHR CC to those used for the last 5 years at LGW. I don't remember any inputs from BA [just BASSA] about pay cuts - it's an adjustment to manning levels [assumedly through natural wastage] to avoid paying £xx,xxx to a CSD who doesn't do enough work ["Work is a dirty word, Darling"] to justify the pay. Isn't it?
So ... why can't LHR crews operate under the same T&C as they do at LGW?
Seconds out, Round 47 ... box on.

Or do the Staff tell Management what they may or may not do?
Which is, of course, the basic problem.

As someone not directly involved I may be wrong, but the impression I have received from this thread is that BASSA imposed the lower manning levels on LGW crew!
Moving back to a few pages ago, you said:
I can only see BA keeping you on permanent standby if they managed to recruit for New Fleet at a rate of pay less than your trip-based allowances.
There also sems to be an inconsistency between your picture of losts of people on standby and your claim to be working much more than your contracted hours.

A certain package will only exist until they have moved every single trip from EF and WW. What do you think they will do after that? Keep paying us and keep us on months of standby? As I pointed out earlier they will give you an ultimatum to either resign OR sign a new contract which would mean a huge pay cut and move over to New Fleet.

Which is why they are bleeding to death at the moment.
Honestly, how clueless do you have to be to absolutely confirm the points of the very people you oppose?

BASSA agreed to those crewing levels after they consulted the LGW crew so nothing was imposed against there will.
An inconsistency? Speak to any 75% crew and most of them will say that they work more than what they are supposed to.

MissM:
Careful what you are posting here. Even the great and the good at Unite shied away from calling for IA on the premise of future employment changes. Tony Woodley stated both on TV and in a press release that this was not about 'New Fleet'.
BASSA have stated, in court, that the current dispute is purely about imposition. Not 'New Fleet' not pay cuts (as there weren't any) just that BA, as the employer who tried for months to get BASSA to wake up and smell the coffee, had the audacity to impose working changes after BASSA refused to believe there was a recession in the world!
BA have agreed to talk about New Fleet if BASSA come to the negotiating table with an open mind. But as BASSA is about as open as Robert Maxwells pension fund cheque book I feel BA will be waiting a long time.
Use your customer killing, company destroying ballot vote wisely as it seems you haven't a clue what you were actually voting for.

Nearly 15 years with BA as CC?
Joined at 18?
Or is your profile as outdated as your attitude?
Do you ever actually fly? You seem to have a lot of time to spend on here.
And you're a very new member of PPRuNe - drafted in by someone?
Or are you actually a BASSA employee with a script?
Just checking, you understand.
We cyber-space users need to have a feel for who we're talking to.
All meant in the nicest possible way, of course.

There's nothing wrong with my attitue but I'm sorry if you find it outdated. It has worked so far and I have no plans on changing it. And, I do fly but if you really need to know I have 11 days off including PT week and mbts.
A very new member? We all have to start somewherere and I'm sure you were a new member too in the past!
