Do any of you Aussie F/A's commute to your base from another state? Am considering applying for an F/A job in another state but can't move cities, have heard lots of long haul F/A's commute but haven't heard of any short haul or regional F/A's doing the same thing. Anyone enlighten me?

Kem I thought that the airlines had certain conditions that required you to be within a certain distance (time) for on-call days. This would be a little hard if you had to fly in form else where to get to work!!

Kem,
I am not OZ, but I do commute from a place 1h15 flight away from my base.
I can do it because I am long haul, it wouldn't be possible in short haul, although my company has one of the best contracts in aviation. Mostly it is because of the rythms of SH, and the reporting times, that are mainly in the morning and don't allow you to reach the base in time.
I have a friend that commutes in the same situation as you, but she goes home only twice a month in her days off(if you are lucky enough to have a company that gives you your days off in a row). Not an ideal situation if you have children, as she does. She is doing it just because she is looking for something else, and hopes it will be temporary.
Good luck.
