Still waiting...

Hi thomas,

Well, no rejection letter of doom in the mail today, which is a good thing! So, just have to get through tomorrow then wait for the mail on Monday...

Unless they'd like to call me instead...! Thanks for the good luck wishes.

boo

I'm really sorry to hear that....

But don't be too upset - at least you will know exactly what to expect for your interview next year, and you can prepare yourself so well. I got in second time!

You going to try any other airlines?

Sorry once again.

hi

if your above 5'10'' you wont be able to fly on the emb 145, the caa set the height limit as the floor to ceiling height of the cabin is 6ft. i'm 5'10'' so with shoes my head is pretty close to the ceiling - just right for banging ones head against the cabin divider during turbulence - ouch!

Smile BA Pay & allowances

Hi Everyone,

I am starting training with BA on 23rd May and am just trying to plan my money for the next few months! Does any BA staff know when I will probably get my 1st paycheck? Will I be payed end of June for my training?

Also, how long does it take for the flight allowances to come thru? I'm wondering how long i'll be struggling for on my basic! Are you payed monthly salary and allowances or do the allowances come thru half way thru the month?

Any help would be great cos I can see these next few months being a struggle!

Thanx x

Hiya,

You'll be earning your basic salary whilst you are training so you expect to take home about £600 at the end of your first month. Once you start flying all your variable pay will be paid one month in arrears. So if you start on the 23rd May you probably wont get a proper pay check until the end of July. It's always a struggle, but it's worth it.

See you up there somewhere!

Assessment day

AirPrincess

Where do I start! The day consists, firstly, reporting to the reception desk, the girls will then check over relevant documents i.e. your Passport, school results, etc. Then you will be asked to be seated and wait until you are called, you will be taken to be measured (height) and you will need to demonstate fitting into a jump seat. Back to the waiting area until called for either a two on one panel interview or to participate in a team assessment (team activity motiviated by how you interact as a team, try to be your self, involve others in decision making, etc.) I'm sure you know the 'drill'

I recommend going over your customer service history, noting how you dealt with a difficult customer, customer solutions, etc.

Then once both your team and panel assessment have been completed you will be asked to attend a short briefing usually held by a senior crew member, basically outlining the 'day and the life of working for BA'. You'll be happy to know I found BA very impressive, extremely professional and put me at ease instantly. Really enjoyed the time spent.
Hope this is of help!

for cabin crew inteview the day will consist of three assements
... height/weight and brace position on a jump seat
... group task (you will be given a task to discuss with the people in your group. try to include in the discussions passengers needs .such as elderly/ vegetarian / non english speaking. so that it shows you are thinking of the wide variety of problems you will be faced with in everyday situations)
and finally you will have the one to one interview with two ba assessers. they will ask you questions relating to the job and will ask for examples from past experiences (such as 'tell us of a time you have had to change they way you behave to work effectively in a team')
overall its a really good day. just relax, be confident and show that you have alot of experience in dealing with customer related problems.
