BOAC B-747

I have heard that BOAC only added the lounge (Monarch Lounge?) on the 747 due to power problem, i.e. the space could not be used for passenger seating due to weight issues. Is that true?

All 747-100 and early -200B (and SP) models only had Upper Deck lounges fitted, usually with a cocktail bar; and Pan Am also used it as the FC Dining Room.
however Condor, Wardair, and World Airways which were all charter airlines, had around 16 large Y seats up there from the start (1971 >)

Later on some Legacy airlines had FC sleeper seats up there (sleeperettes/ slumberettes) then eventually into the 1980's we saw the first kind of Super Club/and Business Class seats....
Some carriers such as BA elected to make the -136 cabin all Y seating (18 seats)

It was IIRC the -300 series that had a weight limited floor loading and could not have the new style 1990's large big C/J class seats/suites as they were too heavy
