Kathmandu Info Request

Hello Gents,

Never been to Nepal, going there next week to stay 9 days. Anybody has any experience with Kathmandu at all? Airport, approach, handling, fuel, hotels, bars, whatever...

Your contribution is appreciated....

(Before you ask: yes, we have done the required sim training for Kathmandu already...)

Tks

What type aircraft?

Sounds great. What type aircraft will you fly in there? Do you fly to a lot of hot-and-high destinations?

Have fun.

We'll be going there in a G5....
Actually, Kathamndu is only just above 4000' ft in elevation, but it's the whopping hills around it that make the challenge... so the MISAP procedure 1-enginge needs to be flown just so..

It's a fun approach. I used to operate a Falcon 200 in there regularly...probably 6 times a year. We never had a sim to practise in unfortunately.

For those who hae neer seen the IAL plates for VNKT

VNKT 02 VOR/DME

VNKT TAC Chart

Sorry about the scaling on the scans..they take a while to download...but that's life

Very steep approach and the ATCOs, more often than not, hold you high before clearing you or the approach so configure early.
