Tell me more: Falcon 2000
Hi Falcon deux mille drivers out there,
going to learn how to fly the F2000.
Maybe there's some prelimenary information wich might be useful to know:
How do you find the cockpit in terms of space and ergonomics? How about the performance? How about A/P behaviour? Etc, etc...
Just tell me everything good and bad about this machine.
Merci!

Nice plane all round - beautifully engineered and put together, good performance, comfortable and efficient. Older versions have a fairly antiquated FMS. Manufacturer's range claims are a touch optimistic. Don't expect to get much more than 6:30 hours out of it at MI0.80 without encroaching into sensible holding and alternate reserves. Enjoy it.

@Mach Tuck: Yep, thats a start... Thanks a lot!
Some more questions to go:
What about spacious cockpit & co? By now I only now Citation 550s.
What about Flight Guidance features? I heard some items to be a bit exotic...
System-wise (hyds and so on) seem to be quite simple compared to a Gulfstream or a Challenger.
I'm sure we got the "antiqued" FMS (Honeywell). What's about that one? Any VNAV and Performance features?
And last but not least: The speed scale on PFD seems to be exotic as well. What about that?
Ah, guys / girls, I'm curious. Give me some goodies to get over the time to wait pour le falcon.
Thanks!

Cockpit size: the Falcon is wider than the Gulfstream, but the Gulfstream is taller. If you are tall, you may have a little difficulty getting into or out of the seat. Our policy is the tie the electrical busses inflight when exiting the seat because it is pretty easy to brush against a generator switch and turn it off
. I'm 6'1" and I don't feel cramped in the cockpit, even on long flights. To me, the seats are pretty comfortable, even on flights over 4 hours.
The Flight Guidance system is OK, not the most modern system out there now, but the airplane was certified in the mid 90's, so back then it was pretty much state-of-the-art. To my liking, the autopilot is a little abrupt. Now the F2000EX EaSy will be state-of-the art when it comes out next year
Systems: Where the Gulfstream is overly complicated, the Falcon is overly simple. It's more like a Citation, system wise. A couple of "why did they do that", like the electrical system (spliting busses) to deal with, but overall it's well thought out.
FMS: We operate with the Collins. I like the Honeywell better, but that's because I've been using the Honeywell on several different types for 8 years. I guess I'm getting a little lazy to learn another FMS.
PFD: Everything is on one display, and displayed in tape form. Airspeed tape does have a digital readout with a trend indicator which is nice. Be prepard for your instrument scan to go to heck.
I can't remember how the Citation handled but the Falcon is probably one of the more enjoyable flying airplanes on the market today.
Fuel burns are very low and the range pretty good, about 6 hours.

@fokkerjet:
Thats a bunch of info; thanks a lot!
I'm 6'3'', so I'll remember the bus tie thing...
No kidding about scanning: We operate the Citation II (non EFIS) and the Bravo (EFIS) with the same crews...
