N829SE Hawker 700A into Loreto Bay, Mexico

Not really sure what occurred - Spanish translations seem to be mixed messages???

A US registered possibly Mexican based Hawker somehow ended up in Loreto Bay in Baja California Sur, Mexico. (May 5/2011)

Aircraft reportedly had just departed Loreto Intl. Airport and contacted ATC requesting a return due to mechanical issues?

Aircraft either over ran runway into the bay or ditched - reports state both??, however all state the crew of two was uninjured.

Note in the photo the nose gear is retracted, and aircraft is said to have been 600 feet off shore and drifted back with the tide???

This has to be worthy of a caption competition.

"V1, flotate".

"Well, if Sully & Skiles can do it......"

Pictures of both this and the Netjets gear up in Moscow a few months ago show just how strong that airplane is!

Part of the Hawker left behind - no statement as to where this was found.

That looks like partS [plural] the main thing being the ventral tank. I would have thought that would separate fairly easily on as the aft section travels through the water.

There is another summary here:
ASN Aircraft accident 05-MAY-2011 Hawker Siddeley HS-125-700A N829SE

Big assumptions and accusations flying there particularly so early on!

'Withness report says aircraft requested to overfly the bay to have some pictures when the accident happend and posible causes contaminated fuel or insurance fraud'

I agree fairly silly thing to have added to the narration, nor did they add a source - however it is in the section of ASN that anyone can edit or add.

On a thread on FSMEX.com a Mexican aviation forum - the news links have stated the pilots name - and he is being mentioned as the same person that barrel rolled Hawker N167DD four times causing extensive damage.
(This being unconfirmed - just stating what is on their posts).

It was purchased by World Jet at FXE and is now flying as N606.

The FAA hopefully will issue a Preliminary Report and it should state either 'over run' or 'ditching' to help clear some of it up
