My hat off to those guys - they did a pretty good job of 'parking' it. That pic from L i S looks unbelievable - I would have thought an accident 'waiting to happen'.
I guess all that stuff is magnetometer gear for finding ore deposits? The plane shows up on Fugro's website in the section on mining.
Must give the plane the glide characteristics of a Space Shuttle if it loses power.
