Biz Jet Push Back Departure

Recently, whilst operating into a regional UK airport using GV we were told that nose in / push back was only option for parking.

What is genral thought? Is this common policy

It sucks

In G550, and I am sure the G5, the turning circle on stand is rather tight, almost turning in your own footprint.

Tel Aviv sucks, but at least they have a push bar.

Bologna, has no tow bar, so remove from hell hole, push back, block taxiway, take 20 mins to replace tow bar in hell hole.

Life sucks.

Bumz--Good post on the turning radius. In class, they were predicting dire events during ramp marshalling due to the 550's "huge" wingspan.

Rubbish. If the nose clears, the wing will clear.

The past few times I've gone into Luton they have nosed us in. But we've stayed long enough for them to reposition us prior to departure.

We push back from our hangar all the time in winter. With the APU and brake pressure, it's no problem. TC

not so fast....

The turning circle is great, and NO problem...however we have blown out two windows in airports.....You might have visited Jedda..and seen the result of being parked in too close.. turn is OK, but break away power with that tight turn is dramatic....

As AA717 confirms the classes are claiming big big problems, but in practice not a problem...(yet).

In Luton it is usual to be nosed in and pushed out.....

717 if in Luton give me PM, I will be there all this week.

Bumz

Forgot this one......Not sure if still required to take your own tow bar.......to push you back against the wall for parking..... Bumz

I was in Exeter with a GV the other day and its compolsury there for push back even though there is enough room to turn. i asked to be spun around ready for a slot they would not have that either. in the end pushed us back away from the stand straight then turned around under own power near to taxiway. didnt check the invoice, good way for them to make more money i bet!!

Same thing has been going on in Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO) for the past year or so. They are just trying to make money, and the push back procedure takes forever to complete. They are not in a hurry

The only difference is that they are concentrated on small/medium biz jets. The large ones are left alone and given proper stands.

Great way to make few hundred dollars....
