Thanks for the advice, gents. I'm going in May so hopefully the weather will be decent (think I'll be keeping my claes on though!). Having said that, I went to Vlieland in May 2019 (see a previous challenge of mine) and it was fogged in. Still a nice part of the world, the fog just added to the 'end of the world' feel. I know that Sylt is a bit more developed tourism-wise than Vleiland though

Sylt is a bit more posh. With expensive houses and private beeches. Lots of expensive private jets on the apron.
A couple of years ago I flew there myself. Got quite a scare when the alarm for the middle marker went off. They are so rare I didn't know what it was at first!

Funnily enough I was at Seaton Sluice, just up the road from Whitley Bay, this afternoon. Not exactly tropical when those easterlies are blowing in...
Archer4: I'm just taking the train over unfortunately! I think you're right about it being upmarket - I'm having to stay in Niebull as all the accomodation on Sylt's either booked up or just ridiculously expensive.

I42 has declared OH - here's another one for the weekend - been in service as both military and civil for over 80 years

This field was mainly military but now is overwhelmingly civilian - its also had a lot of names - in several languages

Laffan's Plain?
No - its not in the UK - it has several international flights in normal times
Not currently and I'm not totally sure about pre covid - possibly not
Currently only the national airline seems to using it for international flights

You can tell that I had over a month in the sin-bin - I looked at the picture and thought "maybe I should trim off that"R"... nahhh it won't help anyone..."
Wrong!
Bear is correct - Eigle Azur is the airline and we're not in Latin America

I will then stab at Constantine Algeria.
For which I found match on the fencing and the truss light towers.
But these could of course be Algerian standard airport issue.
