Which Aerodrome Mk III
Looking at the Vampire in the background and the 'O' code on the Provost, how about Ouston?

Well, I flew WW445/O-B several times at 6 FTS Ternhill in 1961 but I don't think it is there. The presence of the balloon winch etc makes me wonder if it is Abingdon. OH if I am correct.

Hm if that apparatus next to the Vulcan is something to do with RAFP or dog training, could it be Debden?

Well if no-one else wants a go, try this one:

Here are some clues:
This is about the only thing left of this land based strip apart from some aircraft wreckage - more of this in a later clue.
Prior to (and after) it's air links, this was a very important railway town (town might be a misnomer) - although strangely enough it has never seen a rail, coach, wagon or engine.
The next clue will be a photo of something that can be seen from GE.

It isn't Voi - the railway there runs alongside the airstrip, whereas the railway this town served was 120+ miles away as the crow flies - although it hasn't been there for almost 50 years.
I'll post the 2nd picture clue in the morning,

To give a little persepective to the above - the boat is visible in the shot below.
