Morning Graeme...was just about to close down when I saw your post.
USA, yes....homebuilt...well more of a one off really. First flew early 70's.
Manufacturer's name sounds like it should be German![Smilie](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Closing down now. Usual rules apply.

To help you along, it first flew in 1973. Appears to still be current on the US register.
Was to be developed as both a two seat trainer and single seat competition aerobatic aircraft.

Interesting mate. Stuffed with party balloons? Some sort of buoyancy anti-sinking device/experiment.
American?

Good evening Graeme.
Good morning TC and many thanks.
It was indeed American, and there are conficting reports as to whether it flew or not.
Personally I doubt it, given the absence of conventional wings.![Wink](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/wink2.gif)
Two engines for different purposes.

Happy birthday mate. ![Thumb](https://www.pprune.org/images/smilies/thumbs.gif)
Some sort of water-borne propeller driven torpedo (unmanned and under remote control?) that didn't fly?
The balloons are in fact explosives?
